CHAPTER 37

CHAPTER 37: Reunion

Years passed, Johan and Jona finally graduated. Johan became an ophthalmologist and Jona became a medical technologist.

Jona decided to go back to her hometown, together with her parents, to see her other relatives and to show them that she finally became a medical technologist.

Even when they were not together, Jona and Johan still kept in touch through text messages and calls. But still, it wouldn't be enough for her to stop missing him every single day she stayed in her home.

Jona let out a big sigh as she stares at her phone. Her parents noticed that she looks down these days so her mom decided to approach her.

"Sweetie?"

"Yes mom?"

"Are you alright? You seem down these days."

"W-well...not really."

"Why? Do you miss him?"

"Yes. I don't know the reason why but it has already been two days when I last received his text message."

"Maybe he's just busy? You know he's already a doctor."

"I know that too. But usually, he sends me a text message each day to keep me updated.", Jona explained while her mood is getting gloomier.

Jona's parents exchanged glances. Not knowing how to comfort their daughter.

"Do you want to go back to Korea, sweetie? It looks like you miss Johan that much.", her dad asked.

"Well, yes. But at the same time... I want to stay here a bit longer. It's been years since I last stayed here and spent a lot of time with you.", Jona said and sighed.

Both of her parents just look at her worriedly. Jona's phone notified and it shows the message of her old friend, Princess.

Princess: Hey Jona! I heard you're back here in the Philippines. Are you free? We planned on having a reunion this night.

Jona: Yep! I'm free! Where are we going to meet up?

Princess: At the restaurant we usually gathered before. You still haven't forget where it is, aren't you?

Jona: Of course!

Princess: Alright then, we'll see you later.

Jona stood up and went to her room. She changed her clothes into a simple dress and applied a little makeup on her face.

"Where are you going, Sweetie?", her mom asked.

"I'm going to see my old friends tonight. Bye mom! Bye dad!", Jona said.

"Alright! Be careful!", her mom said and she waved in reply.

"I hope she'll get better soon", Jona's dad sighed.

"She will since she'll meet her old friends again.", Jona's mom replied.
