CHAPTER 32: Video Call

"You won't understand it even if I tell you, Jona"

"I know about crews"

Johan was shocked on what Jona said.

"What? How?"

"Daniel explained it to me."

"I-I see. Well... one of the crews, the workers, invited us earlier."

Johan then showed her the invitation card. Jona began to read its contents and when she finished, she spoke.

"I see. But why did the workers want to gather you?"

"He made a deal to each one of us. And it was to cooperate with him to bring down Charles Choi."

"Is he also the one who sent those men earlier?"

"Yes. He sent them to each one of our weakness. Including your friends from J High. He used it to threaten us."

"How cruel."

"Do you have a number of your friends? Try calling them to see if they're alright"

"Right!"

Jona took out her phone and started dialing Mira's number.

*ring* *ring*

Mira: Hello Jona!

Jona: Mira, are you alright?

Mira: Of course! Zoe, Joy and I are having fun at karaoke.

Jona: That's a relief.

Mira: But why did you ask, Jona? I find it weird too cause Zack suddenly barged in here earlier while panting. Is something wrong?

Jona: Nope. Nothing's wrong. I just want to know if you guys are fine. Anyway, have fun!

Mira: Alright! Thanks Jona!

Jona ended the call and both her and Johan sighed in relief. Jona's phone rang again and when she saw it was her dad, she immediately answered it while Johan looked at her.

Jona: Hello Dad.

Jona's Dad: Hello sweetie. How are you?

Jona: I'm fine Da-

Jona's phone notified and it shows that her father wanted to have a video call with her. When she pressed the video button, both of her parents' smiling face showed up on the screen.

Her parents: We miss you sweetie!

The smiles of her parents slowly faded when they saw a guy on Jona's side.

Jona's mom: Sweetie?

Jona: What's wrong mom?

Jona's mom: Who's that guy on your side?

Jona: Oh! You mean him?

Jona moved her phone and face it to Johan. Johan then smiled and bowed at her while Jona's mom was astonished on seeing Johan's face. Jona's mom tapped her husband's shoulder with excitement while Jona's father frowned.

Jona faced the phone back to her face but she was confused when she saw her mom raised a thumbs up to her and her dad frowned while crossing his arms.

Jona's mom: You made a good choice, sweetie!

Jona: Huh? What do you mean?

Jona's mom: What's his name?

Jona: His name is Johan Seong. A friend of mine.

Jona's mom: Oh... a friend.

The excitement that her mom felt slowly disappeared after knowing that both Johan and her were just friends while her father smirked.

Jona's dad: Anyway, how's your studies, sweetie?

Jona: Uhh... it's fine dad.

Jona's dad: Really? How's your grades?

Jona: Still passed dad.

Jona's dad: Good. After years, you'll graduate and become a medical technologist soon. So do well on your studies, okay?

Jona: Yes dad.

Jona's dad: Alright! I'll end the call now. Take care sweetie. We love you!

Jona: I love you too, mom and dad!

Jona sighed and put her palm on the face.

"My studies", she mumbled.

"you okay, Jona?", Johan asked.

"no.. I forgot we have a final examination next week.", Jona groaned while massaging her face.

"want me to help you?"

Jona's face lit up on Johan's suggestion.

"Yes! Yes!", she nods excitedly like a puppy.

Johan laughed at her reaction.

"Alright! I'll help you review your exam tomorrow. For now, let's go inside my house. I'm sure mom's already waiting for us inside to eat dinner."

Both of them then went inside and ate the dinner happily.
