CHAPTER 38

CHAPTER 38: Proposal

Jona continued walking slowly as she looked at the night sky. She was getting nearer to her home when she saw a shooting star passing by the sky. She then paused and closed her eyes to make a wish.

'I wish Johan is here.', she wished.

She slowly opened her eyes. She then heard the sound of footsteps coming towards her. When she looked up to see who it was, the face of Johan frowning while crossing his arms was the first thing she saw.

"There you are. What took you so long to go home? You really had a habit of walking late at night huh? Didn't I tell you that it's dangerous for you to walk alone this late?", Johan nags.

Jona stared at him. She couldn't believe that she saw him right after her wish so she rubbed her eyes to check if she was just dreaming. However, when she opened her eyes again, she can still see his frowning face.

"Johan? Is that you?", Jona asked with disbelief.

"Yes, it's me.", Johan replied.

Jona still couldn't believe it so she raised her hands to pinch Johan's cheeks.

"Ow! Hey! Hey! That hurts!", Johan complained.

"It feels so real to be a dream", Jona said as she rubbed Johan's cheeks. Johan then grabbed her hands to stop her.

"You're not dreaming, Jona. I arrived here 6 hours ago.", Johan said.

"Really? So it's not because of my wish?", Jona asked, still looking at him with disbelief.

"What are you talking about?", Johan looked at her in confusion. But instead of answering his question, Jona hugged him so tight.

"I missed you, Johan"

"I missed you too, Jona. I'm sorry I haven't texted you these past few days. I was really busy and I also planned on surprising you this day.", Johan said while hugging her back tightly.

"Tch! You made me worry.", Jona said while Johan just chuckled in response.

Johan stayed in Jona's place for days. Within those days, he get to meet and spend some time with her old friends and her relatives.

Jona and Johan are walking around the street. It was already past 10 pm and the shops are starting to close.

As they were walking, Johan kept on clasping the box that he kept inside his pocket. He kept on thinking the right moment he'll ask her. He even asked advices to Jona's friends and parents but they couldn't give him a direct answer because what they know is that Jona could appreciate everything no matter how simple it is.

Jona noticed that Johan was distracted by his thoughts so she stopped walking and held his hand, which made Johan flinched.

"Johan? Are you alright?", Jona asked while looking at him worriedly.

"Ah- Of course, I'm fine!", Johan smiled. He felt a bit of guilt for not talking to her when they're having a late night walk.

"Are you sure?", Jona asked again.

"Yep. Let's keep walking.", Johan said and interlocked their fingers.

"Jona, why do you love walking at nighttime?", he asked.

"Cause it reminds me of the night I first met you...the time when you first saved my life.", she replied and started to reminisce that night. Johan started to smile as he remembered those times.

"It has already been years. You've grown stronger that I'm starting to forgot those times I have to save you.", Johan said.

"HELP!"
