A letter is never ill-timed; it never interrupts.
Instead it waits for us to find the opportune minute, the quiet moment to savor the message.
There is an element of timelessness about letter writing.

"I like this city." I say as myself, Emma, Talia, Tierna, Skye, Sam and our service dogs walk back into our Copenhagen hotel after doing some shopping.
"It is a very nice city." Talia says as I see a familiar face sitting in the lobby.
"Holy shit." I say as I look at the familiar face.

"Hi Katana." Mikaela Shiffrin says with a smile as she stands up.
"Hey." I say with a smile then I hug my one of my favorite people in the world.
I've known Mikaela since we were roommates at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
"I had to come see my favorite snowboarder play football." Mikaela says with a smile.
"You're going to the game?" I ask.
"I am." Mikaela says then Skye comes over. "Hey Skye."
"Hey." Skye says with a smile then she and Mikaela hug.
Mikaela, Skye, and Oksana all competed on the Alpine skiing circuit so they all know/knew each other and they are/were all pretty good friends.
Skye tore her ACL and MCL at the first race after the 2018 Olympics and she decided to take some time off and focus on her sports agent business and her other businesses.
This coming season, the 2022-23 season she's going back to racing so she'll be seeing Mikaela a lot.
"You ready to get back to racing?" Mikaela ask.
"Very." Skye says then I introduce Mikaela to Emma, Talia, Tierna, and Sam.
Once everyone is introduced, I see Skye give Emma, Talia, Tierna, and Sam a weird look.
"Well the five of us have somewhere to be." Skye says. "But you two should keep talking."
"Uh okay?" I say then Skye ushers Emma, Talia, Tierna, and Sam to the elevator.
"I see she's still odd." Mikaela says.
"Yep." I say then I look at my favorite American skier. "So are you busy?"
"I am not." Mikaela says.
"Cool." I say. "Can we put my bags up in my room then we can catch up?"
"Sounds like a plan." Mikaela says with a soft smile.
"Cool." I say then the two of us and my service dogs head up to my suite.
Cairo gives the ladies with service dogs and the captain of the teams, the suites on our floor.
So Talia and I are in the two suites at one end of the floor while Cairo and Emma are in the two suites at the other end of the floor.
"I see you still have my tattoo on you." Mikaela says as she touches my right hand.
