Jungkook’s POV

I’m in my wolf form, running with my brothers in the woods near the estate. It feels good to run. The stones and sticks on the ground don’t hurt my feet, instead just driving me to run faster. I’m the fastest runner in my pack. It’s my claim to fame, you could say. Namjoon and Yoongi are strong and have the most authority. Jin and Taehyung are the most compassionate. They are the healers and take care of our pack. Hoseok and Jimin are our trackers. They can find anyone and are indispensable. But me? I can RUN.

I’m able to outrun them all, and I like showing that fact off. I often work with Namjoon and Yoongi when it comes time to run others off of our land or when it’s time to do our patrols.

I’m doing just that when I feel a strange pull. My instincts have always been reliable before, so I trust my gut and run in a different direction than normal.

“Where are you going?” Namjoon asks, using our mind link. He can smell that I had made a new track as he passed my old one.

“I…. I feel something. I want to see what it is.” I answer.

“What do you mean, you feel something?” Yoongi questions.

“I don’t really know,” I tell him. “It’s just a pull. I want to go see where it’s leading me.”

“Do what you need to do,” Namjoon says. “Your instincts have always aided us before; I won’t doubt you now. Yoongi, cover the northern loop for him while he looks into it.”

“You got it,” Yoongi responds, digging his feet in a little harder to pick up his pace and cover me. “Be careful, kid. Let us know if you see anything.”

“I’m not a kid,” I grumble. I’m younger than everyone else, but you’d think that they’d stop treating me like a kid by now. I’m 23, and sometimes I think I’m more mature than some of the older ones. Doesn’t matter, though. They all basically had to raise me once our parents died, so I guess I’ll always be a kid in their eyes.

“Sorry, JK. Old habits die hard.”

“Don’t worry about it, hyung,” I tell him. Just then, I catch a whiff of the strangest smell. It’s like… peaches?

I pick up the pace and follow the scent. It’s the sweetest thing I have ever smelled. Not too sweet, like candy, but more like a fresh peach that’s perfectly ripe. I want it, whatever it is.

The scent is getting stronger the closer I get to the estate. It worries me. Could someone be attacking? But no, my instincts aren’t telling me something’s wrong… in fact, I feel incredibly warm right now. Comfortable almost. Excited, definitely. I just have to find that smell.

As I come to the tree line, I finally find the source of the smell, and I’m surprised to see a woman standing outside the barn, staring up at the sky. Her neck has to be hurting from craning it up like that, but she just spins around like she’s dancing. She smiles to herself, and she looks so peaceful. So happy.

She’s definitely human. The smell isn’t that of a wolf at all, but then I have never met a human who smells quite like this one. I wonder what she’s doing all the way out here in the middle of nowhere. She must have gotten lost in the woods. We sometimes get hikers out this way, but those are few and far between.

She doesn’t look like a hiker, though… she’s not wearing the right clothes or shoes for it, and it’s the middle of the night. I wonder if it’s a trick or something, but again, it doesn’t feel like a trick. It feels right. It feels like home. It feels completely confusing.
