Chapter 35

    Jarvis: "Shadow, your presence is required in the conference room."

    Shadow groaned, wiping sleep from her bright blue eyes. Shadow cursed whoever was making her get up after having such a good nights rest. Shadow trudged to the shower, rinsing her body of the grime and sweat of the previous mission. She dried herself off, putting on her clothes (above). As she made her way down to the conference room, she snatched up a banana off the counter.

    "Took you long enough sunshine." Tony teased the witch.

    "Can it Stark. I'm not a morning person."

    Clint started laughing which caused Shadow to glare in his direction. He threw his hands up in surrender as Nat punched his shoulder.

    "Enough of the child's play, we've got a bigger problem." Fury's annoyed tone caught everyone's ears.

    "What's the problem Director?" Steve questioned in his usual soldier like tone.

    "It seems the mole that has been working against SHIELD, has been gathering a lot of information about the team."

    Everyone sat up, curious as to what this person could need with information on the Avengers. Fury pulled up the screen, asking Jarvis to show the files he had put together. Everyone's files came up, including Shadows, showing the information the spy had retrieved.

    "What do they want with our information? I mean most of that stuff is common knowledge or it's information that cannot be used against us." Nat stated.

    Fury kept moving through the files and pulled up Shadows. The team saw that there was still no information under her profile.

    "They have been working on this." Fury moved his hands across, suddenly pulling up red words underneath Shadow's picture. The team was shocked, reading out the new information.

    "Did you put this under her profile Fury?" Clint pressed angrily. He was still protective of the newest team member.

    Fury turned towards the team. His face was stern as he held his hands behind his back. "No. I recovered it after our last mission. They tried to wipe it clean before we got there, but Stark was able to hack into their deleted files before we left."

    "I thought I got rid of everything..." Shadows scared eyes stared at the screen. Her mumbled words weren't meant to be heard...but everyone picked them up.

    The team turned to Shadow, tensing up as they tried to put together her confession.

    "Got rid of what Miss Shadow?" Fury's voice brought Shadow's focus back to the team. Her nerves were sky rocketing, her hands started shaking.

    Nat noticed this and put a hand on her shoulder. Nat knew that whatever she was afraid of, was similar to what she had been through in the Red Room. Shadow sighed and stared back up at the screen.

    "There...there isn't a whole lot I remember about that night. The only thing I know, is that I burnt that place to the ground with everything about me in it. I didn't want them to be able to find me again."

    Shadow was worried. Worried her confessions she was about to make, were going to come back to hurt her. Everyone around the table were locked in on what she had to say.

    Tony pointed at the screen. "Well how do they have this information? And please...tell us what it means."

    "I...I don't know. They must have had a backup I didn't know about."

    Steve looked back at the screen and started reading aloud. "Former assassin...Ghost...water/fire manipulation...super soldier serum...flying abilities...faster regeneration...paired well with the Winter Soldier...What do some of these mean?"
