All across time, people learned that they were destined to be paired with a soulmate. Most people never objected to soulmates. Marks would randomly appear on peoples skin, signifying who their mate was...like a representation. They were called "soul...
Shadow shot up from her restless sleep, body covered in a cold sweat. She sighed, I really don't know what a peaceful nights sleep is anymore... She got out of her bed and checked the time...2:27 am.
"Geez...I couldn't even sleep past 4:00am this time." Sneering, Shadow marched into the bathroom to take a shower. Roughly washing away all of the painful memories, Shadow hopped out of the shower and put on her training gear. She figured training at the warehouse could at least help her ease this frustration. She aggressively attached her favorite daggers onto her thighs, put on her cloak and stealthily went out the window. Being on the second floor and on a darker street, it was easy for Shadow to climb her way up to the roof of the building.
She was overlooking the night sky amongst the skyscrapers that hindered her view of the stars. One big building always stood out at night. STARK TOWER. Tony Stark, a billionaire who once was in the weapons building industry for the military turned to sustainable energy when he discovered his weapons were being bought by corrupt organizations and countries and hurting innocents for personal gain. His tower, was now the only building run on sustainable clean energy...and he was very proud of it.
Shadow always admired Stark Tower. She was always drawn to it whenever she felt like going on walks, and funny enough, the tower was in between her apartment and the warehouse she had found. She loved passing by the buzzing tower, watching as all these executive looking businessmen and businesswomen walked in and out those lobby doors. Occasionally she would see Pepper Potts, the owner of Stark Industries...basically ran the company for Tony...while she went on her coffee runs or went to handle business. Pepper was a beautiful woman. She was always kind to those who she talked to...Yes Shadow tended to eavesdrop... but she could get snarky real quick. If anyone ever made a disrespectful comment about Tony, the company, or her...she would always put that person in their place.
Shadow jumped off of her buildings roof to the one across the street. She could get a running start and jump across several blocks before having to jump down from the rooftops to the alleyways. She was good at sneaking around, especially at night. She could thank her past for that. As she made her way past the tower and into the outskirts of town, she made it into her little safe haven. She went through the makeshift door she had created on the side and shut it behind her. Once she was in the main area of the warehouse, she clenched her fists, closed her eyes and stomped her foot into the ground.
Beautiful dangerous flames danced around her. Her emotions releasing with her magic. She hated what those people had done to her. The fire within her was able to show when Shadow wanted to let go.

She hated that Hydra had turned her into a monster. She hated what they had made her do. Her body was covered in every reminder as the monster they had made her to be. They made her kill. She could remember every single life she had taken, even while Hydra had her mind under lock and key. She hated that they controlled her and for years she couldn't break free of their hold.
