Mackenzie
Elliot barely waits for the garage door to lift all the way up. I have to grab onto the door handle to catch myself before I could fall face first into the dashboard. The seatbelt tightens against my chest and it feels like my breath gets knocked out of my lungs.
"Call Alec. Tell him what's going on if he doesn't know yet." Elliot orders me. The heated feelings we had just moments ago feel like they happened years ago. I try to find my phone in my jacket, but realize I forgot my jacket in Elliot's room. I take his phone from his pocket and unlock it. I'm surprised he hasn't changed his passcode yet.
I dial Alec's number, waiting four long rings until the line picks up. I feel relief wash over me.
"Alec, are you at the party?" I ask, panic ringing in my voice. "Paul here. Alec forgot his phone at the party when he ran with Max." Paul tells me and I feel my throat tighten at his words. "Mack, what the hell is going on?" My human friend sounds as alarmed as I do.
My body is almost thrown into the car door when Elliot makes a sharp turn. I glance over to my mate, seeing how angry he looks. This time it's not fear that drives him forward, since I'm completely safe by his side. This time it's pure rage. He's angry at the Midnight pack.
"Paul, listen to me. Go find Tyler and Samantha if they're still at the party. Tell them Thomas and Nat are in danger because the Midnight pack is trying to get them. We still don't know where they are, but we'll tell you as soon as we know." I tell him, hoping he isn't drunk and can explain all of this to my brother and his mate. Elliot presses down on the brakes at a crossroads, making the seatbelt tighten around me again. I fall back against the seat and glance over to my mate.
"Okay, I'm on it." Paul ends the call and I stare at Elliot, noticing his set jaw. We still don't know where we need to go to find Thomas and Natalie. They could be anywhere.
"Call Maddison. Max said she's with the members of the Midnight pack that are hunting them down." My mate tells me and I feel the hairs on the back of my neck stand at his commanding tone. I nod a little and look down at his phone again, finding Maddison's contact. I dial her phone number and press Elliot's phone to my ear.
It takes longer for her to pick up than it took Paul. But eventually she picks up.
"Elliot, we need your help." Her words are hushed, like she'd be hiding somewhere. "Maddie, it's Mack. Where the hell are you?" I ask her, noticing how Elliot tenses. His knuckles turn white as he grips the stirring wheel tighter. "Oh god, Mack. I'm following the pack members. They drove Nat and your brother in a corner. The only way to escape is to cross the border to our territory." Maddison sounds like she's going to cry any second now.
"Where, Maddie!?" I bark out, feeling my throat tighten on me. If anything happens to Natalie I'm going to kill each and every one of the Midnight pack wolves. My wolf snarls in my head, feeling protective over Nat. "At the well. They drove them to the well." Maddison sounds almost defeated.
"Elliot, well." I tell him and my mate steps on the gas. I make my hand into a fist, feeling the panic rise in me. My body starts trembling and my thoughts get jumbled together, I don't know if I can think straight.
"Listen to me, Maddie. I know we haven't gotten the chance to make a plan, but right now we need the rebelling wolves. If they are with you I need you to protect Thomas and Natalie." I instruct, watching as the SUV practically drifts across the road. "I'll give out the signal." She tells me and ends the call.
I feel panic bubble in my throat, making it squeeze on me. My hands tremble as I drop Elliot's phone into my lap. Oh god, what if something happens to them? What if we can't get to them in time? What if Frederick kills them?
