Elliot
I watch the SUV drive away from the Polaris pack territory, the red backlights disappearing in a turn. A sigh tumbles out of me and I turn to head back inside, closing the door behind me.
My body aches, yet it's not the annoying kind of ache. It is almost blissful. I rub my hand over Mackenzie's mark, feeling the scar that has completely healed over the day.
"Hey, Elliot! Want a sandwich?" Tyler calls from the kitchen. I tilt my head to the side, questioning if he didn't just hear all of the girls sneak out and take the cars to whoever knows where.
"Umm, no thanks." I answer, heading over to the kitchen. "Did you not hear... the girls sneaking out right now?" I question, pointing my finger over my shoulder, to the direction of the garage. "Heard them loud and clear." Tyler turns around to look at me with a lopsided smile.
"And you didn't stop them?" My lips tug down into a frown, as I watch Tyler bite into his sandwich. "It's dangerous out there."
"Look, the girls can take care of themselves. Plus, I wanted to give them a sense of accomplishment that they snuck past me without me 'knowing'." He makes air quotations with his fingers. I watch him in disbelief, as he continues to eat his sandwich. "Aha." I mumble out and turn around, to head upstairs again.
"What are you going to do!?" Tyler calls after me, poking his head from the kitchen. I stop in the middle of the stairs and glance down at him. "I'm getting dressed and following them." I state and then head up the stairs again.
"Following who?" Thomas stands on top of the stairs, one eyebrow raised in question. Irritation rises inside of me, as I walk past him and to my room. Does nobody freaking know that there is danger outside and the girls could get killed by the hunters?
"The girls. They snuck out." I hear Tyler explain, as I grab a leather jacket from my wardrobe. "Oh." I grit my teeth at Thomas's answer and pull my jacket on me aggressively.
"Oh? Just oh? The girls could be in danger! Natalie is with them, you know?" I bark out as I come out of my room. Thomas doesn't seem fazed by my anger, his green eyes narrowing at me. "You think I don't know that? The whole house probably knows they snuck out to go to Charlie's Halloween party." Thomas shakes his head as he speaks.
I halt for a second, glancing over to Tyler to see the corner of his lips lifting up.
"You two knew they were going to go out." I figure. "Well, duh! I knew I couldn't stop Sam from partying on Halloween." Tyler exclaims, the smile still not disappearing from his face. I glance over to Thomas, who only shrugs.
I feel slightly dumb suddenly. They both knew all along, while I was out in Mackenzie's bed, completely drained and still in euphoria and while I was sleeping, they made a plan to keep the girls safe.
"We're going to have to take your truck in order to get to Charlie's party." Thomas explains to me as we all head down the stairs. "I don't know where the keys are. They're probably with Rebecca or Max." I state, as Tyler opens the front door of the house.
"Please don't tell me you wanted to go to a Halloween party dressed like that!" I step out of the house, narrowing my eyes at Max, who is standing in the driveway. Dressed as a cowboy. He places his hands on his hips and shakes his head from side to side.
"If you think I'm going to dress up into a costume, you're mistaking." I all but growl out. Max glances up from underneath his cowboy hat, the side of his lip tilting upwards. "Have some Halloween spirit, Elliot! Mackenzie got dressed with the other girls." Max tells me, swinging the car keys of the truck back and forth in between his fingers.
