Mackenzie
The morning of my birthday I feel groggy. I haven't slept well since Elliot wasn't by my side. I don't think I've slept half an hour.
My body and wolf are just so used to him being with me, it felt wrong to sleep alone in my bed. To not feel his arms around me. To not feel his warmth surrounding me. It just felt wrong to be alone in my bed.
I get out of my bed slowly and head to my wardrobe to get dressed for the day. Today is going to be a tough day to go through. We are going to be planning the attack on the hunters and hopefully we will attack them as soon as possible. Tomorrow would be preferred.
When I get out of my room, I can smell the scent of coffee brewing and bacon frying. I focus on the ground floor, hearing how Thomas, dad and Sam are conversing with each other about today's meeting. I head down the stairs to join them and have some breakfast with my family.
The conversation gets cut off when my feet hit the ground floor. I assume they sense my presence before I even stepped foot into the kitchen. And when I do, all eyes are already on me.
"There's the birthday girl!" Thomas cheers, a wide grin adorning his face. It makes the mood I was in vanish away. My own lips quirk up slightly as my brother gets up from the table and walks over to me with his arms wide open.
"Happy birthday, Mack." He tells me as he engulfs me in a tight hug. "Thanks, Tommy." I murmur into his shoulder. He lets me go and steps aside, so my father and Samantha can wish me a happy birthday as well.
"Here." Samantha hands me a mug of hot coffee and I thank her quietly. I take a sit next to Tommy and across from dad.
Dad is staring at me. His eyes slightly glossed over as he keeps watching me. It makes me pick my head up and raise an eyebrow at him.
"Dad, are you okay?" I ask him, making him blink a couple of time. He brushes his hands under his eyes and nods. "Yes, yes. I'm fine. It's just..." He halts for a second before he gives me a small smile. "We thought you wouldn't survive the full moon. I was scared you weren't going to make it to seventeen. And look at you now."
I press my lips in a thin line and glance down at the coffee in my hands.
"I'm so proud of you." Dad tells me, which makes me look up at him again. "Thank you." I whisper back.
The door to the house opens and I glance over to the hall only to see a pile of werewolves walking into our home before I could even take a sip of my coffee first.
"Happy birthday!" Tyler all but screams atop of his lungs. He runs over to the table and pulls me straight out of the chair. I yelp in surprise as he lifts me up from the floor and spins me around.
"Oh, god! Ty, put me down!" I gasp, as he laughs behind me. Tyler drops me back down to the floor and grins at me from ear to ear. Before I could even catch my breath, the Quantum brothers come over to me and wish me a happy birthday before squeezing the life out of me just like my brother.
The only one who normally approaches me and squeezes my hand as a birthday wish is Alec and I am thankful that my best friend doesn't try to kill me like Ty, Jas and Ry tried to.
The boys settle around the table, while Samantha sets the plates on the table for breakfast.
"So, what's the plan for today?" Jason questions with a mouth full of bread he snatched from the basket. I raise an eyebrow at his question as I notice the question is directed to me. "The plan? I don't know yet, we're going to have to brainstorm." I answer, but the younger Sokudo wolf shakes his head.
