Jason
There is an abrupt sound that startles me. It's like somebody took the door off of the hinges. Or the door crashed into the wall behind it. I jolt up, the sleep still blurring the edges of my vision. I can hear my mate gasp for air somewhere near me.
"Get up. He found it." Knox's voice rings out. I blink a couple of times and rub the sleep from my eyes. When my eyes get used to the light that is slipping into my room from the hall, I can see a large figure that belongs to the Beta of the Polaris pack.
"What?" Max's confused voice rings out through the quiet room. "Paul found the location. Get up. We're heading out." Knox explains, before he disappears from the doorway. I blink a couple of times before the information sinks in.
The location. Paul found where they have been keeping Elliot and Mackenzie. We are going there.
I fall out of the bed, my legs tangling into the covers. Max was sleeping on the floor with only a pillow under his head. I insisted that he can sleep in the same bed as me now that we've accepted each other, but he wouldn't take me up on the offer. Since we have both had our first shift already, he said he doesn't trust his wolf enough to sleep in the same bed as me. It made my stomach twist with a hot feeling that I wanted to push away.
I grab a shirt from the closet and pull it over my head. Max gets up from the floor and stretches. His back cracks loudly and I notice how he grimaces.
"Told you to sleep in the bed." I mutter, a small smirk tugging at my lips. Max shoots me a glare as he grabs his jacket from the chair. "If you wanted to be fucked so bad, you should've just told me so." And with that, he walks out of the room.
I feel my face heat up at his words. My wolf whimpers in my head and I want to bang my head into the closet in order to make him shut up.
"I didn't say that!" I shout after Max. I grab a sweater from my closet and rush after him. My feet pound against the stairs as I head down to the common room. When I get there I see Rebecca rubbing her face, trying to wake herself up. What is even the time?
I glance up to the clock in the common room, noting it's three in the morning. Paul has been up this long? I'm going to have to thank the guy for being so persistent.
"Where are they?" I hear Max asks, his body leaned on the doorframe of the conference room. I head over to the door and poke my head over his shoulder to see who is inside. I have to stand on my tiptoes in order to see over Max and I think he knows that because I can see the small smirk that appears on his lips.
"We don't know if they're still there, but the location is close to the Canadian border. It's going to take at least a day to get there." Paul sounds exhausted as he answers. "A day?" Sam's eyes widen as she looks down at the human male. "Unless you have a plane, yes a day." Paul snaps at the she wolf. He rubs his face and leans back in the chair. I'm surprised he hasn't fallen asleep yet.
"They have so much information on that computer it was hard to find the location. I had to go through many folders to get to the other computer they were emailing." Paul explains. He scratches the back of his neck and hovers over his computer again. "I've found some concerning information here. Orders for more weapons, emails about reinforcements, emails to the group that captured Mackenzie and Elliot. The last email they sent to the computer on the Canadian border is this one." Paul clicks on the computer, before he moves back to show everyone.
I push Max into the room and head over to Paul. I glance over his shoulder to read the email.
It's been half a day without a report. Is everything okay out there? Need help?
