It was something to three in the morning when a black Sedan parks in front of the house. Everybody but the werewolves on watch, the Alpha and Luna, Zion and Griselda and me and my mate, were asleep. Cory went back home and is being watched by Murphy until her parents return.

I watch from the living room window as the headlights of the car turn off. The engine is cut and the passenger door flies open. Rebecca gets out of the car, stretching slightly. She then proceeds to brush her hands up and down her arms, her lips moving as she would be cursing the cold Canadian night.

My wolf cries out when I lay my eyes on her. I didn't realize how much I missed her ever since I was kidnapped and I'm relieved to see her.

The driver's door opens and David climbs out of the car, his eyes looking over to the front porch. He wears a grim look, like he'd be hating the idea of being here.

I hear how Griselda heads to the front door and opens it. She steps out on the porch and closes the door behind her. Rebecca's eyes snap over to the older woman and she scowls slightly. I strain my ears in order to hear the conversation between all three of them through the window.

"David." Griselda greets with a clipped tone. David frowns at her tone of voice and nods a little. "Griselda." He greets back. Rebecca glances back and forth between them, her expression showing irritation.

"I don't want to ruin the warm reunion, but I'm freezing my ass off here." She barks out. Her words are as sharp as usual and I feel the corner of my lips lifting up. I missed her sharpness.

"Is it them?" I glance over my shoulder when I hear Mackenzie's sleepy voice. She went to get some rest after dinner, falling asleep on the sofa. Now she is half awake, waiting for me to answer. "Yeah, it's them." I confirm, noticing how she quickly sits up. She rubs her hands over her face to rub away the sleep.

Freya seems to be completely tense as she sits on the other sofa with Zion and Cole. They wait for the front door to open again, waiting for Griselda to return with Mackenzie's dad and my sister.

I head over to Mackenzie, almost sitting down on the sofa before I remember the incident in the bathroom. I halt at the armrest of the sofa and awkwardly stay there. Mackenzie seems to sense what I wanted to do, since it has become a habit. I always sit right next to her. She glances away from me and I feel the awkwardness between us again.

I hate it. We never were like this before.

The front door opens and I lift my gaze up to see them walk in. The first to come inside is Griselda. She wears a cold look on her face, her lips slightly turned down into a scowl. Behind her comes David, his eyes jumping all over the room. The second they land on his daughter, sitting on the couch, they fill with tears. Mackenzie doesn't hesitate when she sees him. She jumps off the sofa and almost jumps over it to get to him. David waits for her with his arms wide open and my mate runs into his hug.

"Oh god, I was so worried for you." David mumbles into her hair, holding her tightly in his hug. I glance behind the two, seeing how Rebecca makes her way into the living room. Her gaze locks with mine and my stomach twists at the sight of her. Her eyes flash with relief and she heads over to me.

"Becca." I reach out to hug her, but instead of letting me do that, she punches me directly into my chest. I'm too surprised to even make a sound, as the hit makes me stumble backwards. It hurts, because my sister is strong, but still I make no sound. I just stare blankly at her, too shocked to process this.

"Can you stop being an idiot!?" She barks out, glaring at me. I close my lips, feeling how the corners of my lips tug up slightly. From the corner of my eye, I notice how shocked Freya and Cole are at the sight of Rebecca punching me instead of hugging me, like David did with his daughter.
