I woke up to my alarm. It wasn't the typical annoyingly loud sound, it was actually one of my favourite songs. I sat up letting the covers fall to my lap as I stretched out my aching limbs. It was a weekend but breakfast was served by 7:30 and the time read 7:00. My mother was strict about food schedules. If it was a weekday I would probably shower first because I was responsible for driving Ethan to school but since it wasn't.....I hopped out of bed. I headed down to were plates and pans could be heard.
"Good morning mom." I pecked her cheeks, inhaling over her shoulders.
"Morning sweetie," she pats my cheeks. "Please set the table."
"Sure". While I was setting the table Ethan hops towards me,
"Morning sis." He grins. He was too energetic for this time of the day something was up. I squint my eyes at him, suspicious.
"What are you up to?"
"Oh Lizzy you're so funny, I'm only wishing you pleasantries" he chuckles with an evil grin.
"And I'm not buying it." I rolled my eyes before heading back to the kitchen.
"Good morning mama!" Ethan yells from the dinning and mom frowns.
"That boy" she shook her head and I chuckled carrying the dishes to the table. Mom was right behind me with the apple juice and glasses.
"Ethan! How many times have I warned you not to yell in this house?!" Mom scolds him and he grins at her sheepishly. He was so lucky dad wasn't here to see him or else he would have gotten more than a good scolding. We all sat down waiting for dad.
"Sorry" he calls joining us.
"Good morning dad." Ethan and I chorused.
"Morning princess, morning champ" he replies us pecking mom before taking his seat. "Ethan lead the prayer".
"Yes sir," we all closed our eyes and murmured amen when necessary. We dug in and like always the food was amazing. After rinsing my meal with a glass of water, I noticed my father's gaze and furrowed my brows confused. I couldn't remember doing anything to offend or disobey him.
"Why are they bags under your eyes Elizabeth?" My eyes widens in horror.
"Studying." I blurted out and he raised his brows not convinced. Sometimes having a very good lawyer for a parent was hard, nothing got pass my father, absolutely nothing. "I was chatting with my friends." I caved under his stare.
"Till when?" I gulped, I really couldn't answer that one. I don't remember when I fell asleep, I could check when my last message was sent on the group but dad forbids cellphones on the dinning table even for him.
"I don't know, sir." I whispered avoiding his gaze.
"I will let it slide just this once but such behaviors are not acceptable, you need your rest."
"Sorry dad I will be cautious next time." I pleaded finally looking up. He nods.
"I will be in my bedroom." He stands to leave.
"Dad!" Ethan calls.
"Yes." Dad says. What's that about?
"Ah yes! Princess your brother needs some new clothes so you are taking him shopping". I nodded unable to refuse, not in front of my father atleast. Immediately dad left I was on Ethan like a lion.
"What the hell dude?!" He just shrugs smirking.
"It's just for a few hours dear." Mom cuts in with a small smile, always the peacemaker before standing up and walking away.
"You're on dishes duty." Ethan mocks.
"You are so going to pay for this you....you....ass." I groaned and he just laughs.
"Hurry up princess I don't have all day." He cackles before swaggering off.
"God who did I offend to get a brother like him." I murmured gathering the dishes. We had a dishwasher so dishes duty wasn't even a real chore. After drying the plates I hurried to my room.
While in the shower I tried to think about the bright side of things. I needed work clothes, I was sure PA's wore suit skirts and blouses something I didn't own. I was more of a crop top and jeans or joggers kind of girl, that's what happens when you have a very flat stomach people would die for people, call me vain. I settled on a purple knee length gown paired with silver flats. With my phone and credit card safely tucked in my purse I head out."Let's go!" I groaned before walking pass Ethan who sat in the living room.
"Don't be so grumpy." I ignored his teasing, heading to my car and unlocking it.
"When can I get my own car?" Ethan groans.
"You're 12 Ethan don't be silly." I laughed, amused and he just pouts. The drive to the mall was short and filled with silence something I hated. I was one of those people who didn't like hearing their own thoughts.
I lied to my friends I wasn't over my break-up. Drake and I were together through out senior year and he never showed any signs of cheating and barely a month after graduation his cheating. If I didn't walk in on them I would have never believed it and that image was forever glued to my memory. What hurts the most was him being so unremorseful and having the guts to push the blame on me. Sometimes alone in the dark, I wondered if I was truly the cause, if I should have just had sex with him, everyone was doing it, what was the big deal anyway.Forget about him Elizabeth he was never in your class and only wanted to mark you off his bucket list, sleep with a rich girl.
Later girls be claiming only rich guys were players, well it obviously wasn't true. Drake was poor no need for sugarcoating. Like a stupid girl in love I was his personal driver, I gave him from my allowance, bought him gifts on a regular. Not once did I point out his inability to take care of me. My gosh! He couldn't even afford my Rose Clara perfume. I pushed out thoughts of him, focusing on the road, once in awhile glancing at Ethan in curiosity before I caved.
"Why do you need new clothes anyway?"
"Umm?" he faces me.
"You heard me Ethan, I don't believe that shit about your clothes being too small and I hope you know dad doesn't either".
"I know, nothing gets pass that man and the clothes is to impress a new girl at school." He winks, unapologetic. My brother was too bold sometimes.
"Boy you're 12." I reminded him, it seemed I have being doing alot of that recently.
"Soooo?"
"You're a lose cause." I sighed. The mall comes into view and I parked my car.
"Let's get this over with I have things to do".
"Like what? Stuff your face with snacks while watching Netflix in bed, you lazy ass".
"Who cares, it's still my business and I like to chill".
"Yah I can't wait to see you after your first week at work." He scoffs and I rolled my eyes, flipping him the bird.
"Someone's feeling chatty, don't you have clothes to try on?" I groaned jumping down.
"Yeah I do." He slams my door shut on his exit.
" Hey! Be careful young man, dad said my car has to complete 2 years before I can get another one," I warned.
"Sorry," he half-assed. His so insufferable but I love him anyway, his just in that teenage stage were you think you're a smarty pants.
What do you think of drake? Should lizzy still worry about their breakup ? Ofcourse she would no one forgets about a breakup so easily especially someone in love. I pray for her, vote and comment kindly it's not perfect but its mine.♥️♥️
