We moved quickly, everyone suiting up and reconvening in the house. I had a really bad feeling about what was about to happen, but I kept my mouth shut. We had all just taken a hard hit, any waver of doubt could mean death for someone. I stood outside on the deck while the others sorted everything out inside. I glanced over to the door hearing it open. Fury exited the house and made his way silently to my side. Fury didn't say anything as I leaned my arms on the railing. I looked over the dark scenery before me. It would be day soon.
"Sparrow." Fury spoke, breaking his silence, I only hummed in recognition. "You were one of my best agents, back when SHIELD was active."
"What are you getting at Fury?" I turned to face him.
"Ultron, he has something on you, doesn't he?" I didn't answer as I turned away from Fury, this wasn't a conversation I wanted to continue but it didn't seem as though I had a choice. "Whatever he has on you, don't you think it's better to tell the team before they find out from someone else?"
I didn't answer Fury as the door to the house opened and the team walked out. I wasn't telling anyone. Never. I'd destroy Ultron before he could. No matter what. Rogers looked towards me and gestured to the jet.
"You're with Romanoff, Barton, and I."
I nodded as I stepped off the deck to follow them. I glanced back towards the deck to see Lila in the window to her room upstairs, waving. I smiled softly and waved back at her. My eyes fell on Fury as he sent me a look telling me to think about what he said. I looked away as I followed the others to the jet.
We were up in the air and moving within the next few minutes. I sat quiet as we headed for Dr.Cho's lab. Rogers explained the plan. He'd go into Dr.Cho's lab while we stayed in the jet as back up just in case two minutes passed. If they did, we'd go in and help him. Reaching Dr.Cho's lab, Clint hovered the jet above the building and opened the hatch. Rogers sent us a nod before heading inside.
"Two minutes. Stay close." Rogers said through his earpiece as he entered the building.
He was going to end up needing backup. This was Ultron we were talking about. He always seemed to be 15 steps ahead of us. I glanced over to Natasha who seemed to understand the same thing. Clint would be stuck in the jet, someone had to pilot it, but Natasha and I were free and ready for when Rogers inevitably needed us.
"Ultron has the Cradle. It has the real power in it. It's got some sort of gem that has a huge powersource. We gotta get the Cradle to Stark. If Ultron manages to upload himself into that body he'll be unstoppable." Rogers came over the earpiece. "You guys copy?"
"We do." Clint answered, as Natasha began to search for anything that could be Ultron and the Cradle.
"I got a private jet taking off across town. No manifest." Natasha spoke, clicking a few buttons on a tablet.
I watched the cars below us as a semi-truck caught my eye. That was Ultron. I could feel it. He'd know that we'd pick up on something like a jet taking off. He'd use it as a distraction. What didn't help his case was that the truck had Dr.Cho company's logo on it.
"Down there." I pointed to the truck for Clint to see. "It's a truck from the lab."
"Right above you, Cap." Clint nodded to me and gave instructions to Rogers, while I scanned the truck. "On the loop by the bridge."
"It's them. You got three with the Cradle, one in the cab." I spoke.
"I have eyes on the driver." Clint clicked a few buttons. "I could take him out."
"Negative." Rogers answered. "That truck crashes, the gem could level the city. We need to draw out Ultron."
We tailed behind the truck at a distance as we watched Rogers land on the roof of the cargo space. He rolled off the back, grabbing onto the doors only to have them blasted open by Ultron. Rogers clung onto the door as it slammed against the side of the truck. Using his feet he pushed the door back towards the opening, only to have it get blasted by Ultron again. Rogers flew up into the air and fell down on the door still attached to the truck but now scraping against the ground.
