My feeling was soon confirmed as gravity seemed to lose all meaning. My body slammed into the roof of the building I was in. I could feel the bones in my body shatter. The island was falling. Whatever Stark was doing needed to work now.

"Jay, where are you?" Clint's voice came through my earpiece.

"On a ceiling." I answered, the pressure building as the island fell faster.

"You're still on the island?" Natasha asked concerned.

"Yeah." I looked out at the blurry world.

"I will come get you. Where are you?" Thor went to say more but I cut him off.

"No, stay in the church. I'll be fine." I sighed, this was it, this was my chance to leave.

"We'll find Samurai after. Thor, I need you to hit the key on my mark." Stark paused for a moment, and thunder filled the air. "Now!"

A shock wave filled the island, the land around me broke into rubble and I was stuck free falling amongst it. This was definitely a worse way to go. Once my consciousness came back from the impact, I'd feel every bone grow, every tendon. It was one of the more painful deaths to recover from.

"I can't find you Samurai. Where are you?" Stark's voice broke the silence.

"You won't be able to get to me." I answered.

"Then I'll find you once you land." Stark didn't seem to budge on finding me.

"No you won't." I sighed, I couldn't stay no matter how much I wanted to.

"What do you mean?" Rogers came through this time.

"This was it for me. I can't stay anymore. Now that you guys know, I can't risk it-"

"What, do all the years of friendship mean nothing to you? Jay, we won't say anything." Clint spoke agitated.

"To be honest, you guys are the closest I've ever come to a family again but in the end this is better. For all of us. It's less painful this way." I paused for a moment. "I won't have to watch you guys grow old and die. I won't have to watch the horror in peoples faces as they realize I haven't aged or that a throat slit is just another Tuesday for me. I've watched so many people die. Ending it this way always ends the best."

"We aren't willing to give up on you just yet, Jay." Coulson said, his voice losing its usual calmness.

"You won't be able to track me down. I've learned how to cover my tracks for centuries." I stopped talking as a piece of rubble slammed against my side. "Plus, I have some things I want to see and want to do, before they fall out of fashion."

I sighed as silence followed. I knew what Coulson was doing. He was tracking my earpiece. He wasn't going to listen. No one would. Just like they had found a spot in my heart, I had found a spot in theirs. Something I never meant to do. Pain filled my body, but not the physical kind. The emotional. The only kind that I had never managed to get used to, no matter how many times I felt it. I had to cut this off, now, or Coulson would find me.

"It's been a pleasure being on a team with you guys." I struggled to keep my voice level as the ground came closer with each passing second. "I'll remember you."

"Wait, Jay don't-"

I cut Natasha's voice off as I removed the earpiece from my ear. I held it in my palm for a moment before crushing it in my hand. They'd never been able to track me now. I looked down at the ground, now closer than before. I only had a few moments before everything went dark and then once the light came back, I'd have to move quickly. They'd still try to find me, they'd never give up. I'd have to go into hiding. I've heard Japan is nice during this time of the year. Maybe I'll head there for the next century or so.
