Shadows of The Past

Chapter 5

Bella's POV

"Got everything?" Edward asked for the final time. I nodded at him as I left through the doors of our villa.

"I can't believe we are leaving." I frowned. Edward chuckled and got to my side instantly.

"I know, love. But we have a whole new life together in Forks, waiting for us. Isn't that exciting?" He cupped my face as he planted a kiss on the tip of my nose.

"I actually can't wait." I grinned as Edward placed his arm over my shoulders.

"Me too." He kissed the top of my head. We walked by the beach for the final time as we approached the reception.

I followed behind the bell hop as Edward diverted to the receptionist to settle the bill. I looked around the resort one last time before Edward came over to me and led me into our travel car.

I snuggled next to Edward as we drove down to the airport. Half of my heart didn't want to leave Mauritius but the other half, couldn't wait to get back home. I actually missed the constant cool weather back in Forks.

I must have fallen asleep in the car as I felt Edward shaking me awake. I got out of the car feeling confused and walked close to Edward. I heard someone bidding us farewell but I didn't notice who it was till a couple of steps later. I turned around and waved at Alex, mentally thanking him for driving us around.

"A few more minutes princess, you'll be in the plane and then you can sleep." Edward assured me. I wasn't sure if I nodded or even acknowledged him but I knew that I prayed that we would clear customs fast.

Soon, we were boarding the plane. Thankfully Edward and I were in the first class department that wasn't very crowded. I went to the seat that was assigned to us and slid down in it, resting my head against the window. I groggily buckled myself and knocked out before I even heard the captain address us.

The last thing I felt was Edward kissing my forehead as he gently rested my head on his shoulders.

"Welcome home!" Emmett and Rosalie greeted as we got out of the car. I grinned as I went over to hug them both.

I turned around and thanked Jasper for driving us from the airport before I helped Edward with the luggages.

"Hey, stop it. That's what I'm here for!" Emmett said as he smacked my hand away. He carried my luggages for me as we both entered the Cullen's house.

Alice was already inside, jumping for joy. I rolled my eyes but went to hug her as soon as I saw her.

"Hey you!" Alice sang as she hugged me tightly. "How was Mauritius?" She asked as she pulled away.

"Honestly, I didn't have the heart to leave." I bit my lip. "It was truly amazing." I smiled.

"It's so good to hear!" Alice squealed. She looked over my shoulders and her smile widened as she saw Edward. "Brother!" She ran to him and gave him a huge hug.

"Hey hey." Edward pecked her on the side of her head. "How have you been?"

"Great as per usual." Alice smiled. "Actually, you should be asking Rosalie that question." She turned around to give Rosalie a meaningful look. Rosalie immediately blushed as she linked her arm around Emmett's.

"What's going on?" I asked curiously, looking at Rosalie and then at my brother.

Both of them kept quiet but they were silently laughing to themselves. Jasper crossed his arms across his chest as he smirked at Rosalie and Emmett. Edward walked over to me and wrapped his arms around my waist.

"Once again," I cleared my throat. "What's happening?" I asked, frowning.

"Go ahead." Alice prompted Rosalie.

"Well," Emmett started as he looked over at Rosalie. "We are going to have a baby." He kissed Rosalie's hand as he said that.

"Oh my god!" I ran to Emmett and hugged him before pulling Rosalie into the hug.

"Really?" I shrieked as I touched Rosalie's stomach.

"Yeah!" She nodded eagerly.

"Congratulations." Edward said as he fist bumped Emmett and gave Rosalie a peck on the cheek.

"I am so happy for you both!" I rubbed Rosalie's arms. "You must be so excited!"

"You've no idea." She grinned.

"I think this calls for a celebration!" Alice cooed. "We are having a BBQ tonight, right here. No excuses, all right?" Alice pointed her finger at all of us, forcing us to nod our heads.

"To the soon-to-be parents and the newly wed!" Jasper raised his glass. I turned to kiss Edward before I drunk down my champagne.

"Okay, while we are all on the topic of new information, I would like to announce something." Alice stood up from her seat. Jasper stood up with her and wrapped his arm around her.

"We have planned," Alice looked over at Jasper. "On traveling for a year."

My eyes widened but I composed my face, letting Alice continue.

"We have always wanted to see the world and witness the different kinds of traditions." Alice added. "So we have decided to set aside a year, just for that. Plus the inspirations I get from around the world would really help my fashion line!"

"Wow." I heard Emmett say.

"Are y'all sure about this?" I asked, looking at Alice and then at Jasper.

"Yeah, we are pretty sure." Jasper confirmed. "We would be leaving after Rosalie and Emmett have their kid, of course."

"We wouldn't miss that for the world." Alice smiled. "Literally."

"So where is your first destination?" Edward asked.

"We are thinking Italy." Alice looked at Jasper with a huge grin on her face.

I nodded and took a sip off my beer bottle. "Sounds great to me."

"Yeah me too, it sounds pretty cool." Emmett agreed.

"Y'all are gonna have so much of fun!" Rosalie shrieked.

"I like the idea." Edward said as he looked at Alice. "Maybe we should do that too, someday." Edward turned to look down at me.

"Someday." I smiled.

"I'm so happy that y'all are fine with this! Now, I'm doubly excited!" Alice squealed. I stood up to give Alice and Jasper a hug, wishing them all the best in their adventures.

"All right let's start eating now!" Emmett boomed as he reached out to take a lamb chop.

"You reached for the food first!" I pointed my finger at Emmett. "So you gotta say grace!" I chuckled.

Emmett sighed and placed the lamb chop on Rosalie's plate.

"House rules man, house rules." Jasper laughed.

"Fine." Emmett pulled his chair closer to the table. Everyone joined their hands together as Emmett started saying grace.
