Shadows of The Past

Chapter 8

"Do we really have to do this?" Edward groaned as we got into the car.

I chucked as I pulled my seatbelt across my body. "A fertility test is extremely important when we are trying to conceive. You should know that." I looked over at Edward.

He sighed as he gripped onto the steering wheel harder than usual. "It's just so awkward." He muttered.

"It's only one time, Edward. Quit being a baby." I playfully hit his chest. Edward caught my hand before I could take it back and entwined his fingers with mine. He kissed my hand before stepping on the gas.

I looked out of the window and sighed as I watched the houses go by. Edward and I have been trying to have a baby for the past few months and we have been extremely excited about it. But I wanted to make sure that everything was all right with us before making any future plans.

Hence, we decided to take a fertility test.

Soon, we arrived at the hospital and I got out of the car at the same time as Edward. He crossed the car and came over to me in a second, wrapping his arms around my waist. We walked into the hospital and towards the fertility department.

"Hi, we are the Cullens and we have booked an appointment with doctor Stinson." I said with a smile to the receptionist in front of me.

"Oh yes, you're right on time. Please proceed to the door on the left." The brunette smiled at us.

I nodded and Edward pulled me away towards the door. As we walked into the room, a clean shaven guy with blonde hair smiled warmly at us. But beside me, I could hear Edward silently groaning and when I looked up at him, I saw his eyes fixed on the white cup on the table.

"Good job today, I will call you once the test results are out." Doctor Stinson smiled.

"Great, thank you doctor." Edward and I both replied as we walked out of the examination room.

"See, it wasn't that bad." I went up on my toes to kiss Edward's forehead.

"Never am I doing that again." Edward grumbled as he pulled me into a hug. "Now let's get back home."

"Yeah let's. I've some unfinished work back at home." I mumbled as I pulled Edward to the exit.

"Yeah me too, but I might need some help from you." Edward wiggled his eyebrows suggestively and I smirked as I got into the car.

"Crazy." I muttered to myself. Edward hopped into the car with a much more excited vigor than before and I rolled my eyes.

"We aren't doing that once we get home! I really have to work!" I punched his arm.

"Oh really?" Edward raised his eyebrows as he reached for my handphone.

He unlocked my phone without any difficulty and went to my contacts. He found the number he wanted and placed my phone to his ear.

"What are you doing!" I shrieked.

"Yes hi, this is Edward Cullen, Bella's husband. She's currently sick and having a pretty bad cold, I think she's going to be out for at least three days. Is it possible for her to get medical leave?" Edward politely asked.

"Oh my god!" I reached for my phone and tried to pull it away from Edward's grip.

"Oh all right, that's great! Thank you and yes I'll send her your regards." Edward showed no sign of struggle against me as he took the phone away from his ear and locked it.

"Done." He gave me a victorious smile.

"Did you just..." I stared down at my phone. "Why?"

"You were there when the doctor told us to keep trying right?" Edward's lips pulled up into a smirk.

"You're crazy." I flicked his ears. Edward leaned in despite me pushing him away playfully and laid a kiss on my lips.

"About you." He whispered against our lips. My hand went up to his face as I gently stroked it. Suddenly, getting three days away from work didn't seem like a bad idea.

"You might want to start driving if you want to finish up your work." I winked at Edward. He laughed and pulled away but not before kissing me again.

He took my hand in his before starting the car and speeding down the streets back to our home.
