"Will y'all be okay on your own?" Mum asked for the hundreth time. I nodded, physically weak of saying yes again.

"It's just 24 hours without you and dad, it's not that bad." I reasoned. "Plus with Alec sick, I would probably be watching Criminal Minds all day."

My mum chuckled as she lifted her overnight bag and placed it in the trunk of the car. "We will come back as soon as your dad's conference is over. We are only at Seattle so don't hesitate to call us if you need us and-"

"Uncle Emmett and Aunt Rosalie are just down the street, don't be afraid to go to them if there's an emergency." I interrupted as I quoted my mum's famous going-away speech.

"Exactly." Mum nodded, unamused by my whining. Just then, dad walked down the front steps with Alec right behind him. My brother did look a little better from the day before but his eyes were still sunken in and he looked like he hadn't slept in weeks.

Dad was speaking to Alec in a serious tone and I assumed dad was nagging at him to take his medicines. And I was proven right when dad turned to look at me.

"Make sure your brother takes his medicines on time." He instructed and I nodded, walking up to stand next to Alec.

"Don't worry about us, we will be fine." I assured both my mum and dad. My mum smiled and hugged both Alec and I before she got into the car. Dad loaded his bag inside the trunk before slipping into the driver's seat.

"See you guys tomorrow!" Alec boomed.

Mum and dad waved and I stared at them till the car went out of sight.

"Shall we order pizza in today?" Alec asked as he walked into the house. I followed behind, closing the door after me.

"Sounds good to me." I flopped onto the couch and turned on the tv. "Plus they are showing 22 Jump Street on tv later today, pizza with that would be a great combination."

"It's settled then." Alec stated. "I'm going to take a shower, we can order the pizza after I am done."

I nodded without looking at him and Alec ran up the stairs. I flipped through the channels on the television and finally settled on Disney Channel. Don't judge me, they were showing Enchanted and that was my all time favorite movie.

Just as I got cozy on the couch with my feet up on the coffee table, I heard a knock on the door. I groaned and got up to open the door, thinking it was my parents forgetting to lecture us on another issue.

"Hey sweetheart." A deep voice greeted as soon as I opened the door.

This was worse than my parents lecturing me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, leaning against the door frame.

"Came to see if you had changed your mind about the date idea." Jace smiled and I frowned.

"Are you serious?"

"Nah, I just had to see your face change for that one second!" Jace let out a bark of laughter and I rolled my eyes. "I came to see your sick brother."

"I'm afraid he would get worse if he sees you." I replied, refusing to let him into the house.

"He already lives with you, how much worse can he get?" Jace shot back and I went into momentary silence. People who fired back to my sarcasm instead of getting offended were my favorite kind of people. Damn Jace for being so perfect!

I sighed and opened the door wider. "Don't mess up the place or I'll mess with your face." I warned.

"I wouldn't dare." Jace assured as he stepped into the house. He looked around the living room before turning back to me. "Nice place you've got here."
