7 years later
"Mummy!" I heard her squeal even before I saw her. I stopped cutting up the sausages and placed the knife I was holding far from the table before I turned around. I knelt down just as she ran into my arms.
"Mummy! Daddy and Alec are being mean!"
I laughed and hugged her tiny body. "Don't worry, mummy's here for you, honey." I smiled.
"Alaska!" I heard Alec shouting as he ran into the house with Edward jogging after him. "You can't run away from the monster!"
"Monsters!" Edward corrected him in a deep grunt that was supposed to imitate a monster's voice. I chuckled and carried Alaska up before Alec could reach her.
"Nobody's touching my princess." I stated and Alaska hugged me tightly as she squealed in excitement.
"I'm taller than you, Alec!" Alaska screamed. She has always liked being carried since she was young, it's no surprise that she still likes it even when she's 7 now.
"Hey!" Alec pouted and Edward scooped him up immediately to help him level with Alaska. But instead of letting Alec anywhere near her, Edward carried Alec over his head and placed him on his shoulders. Alec held on to Edward's hair and Edward grabbed on to Alec's legs that were over his shoulders.
Edward looked over at me and winked. I smirked and pulled Alaska over my head too. Her screams could have been heard throughout the neighborhood, no doubt. Edward and I brought our children out to the backyard and spun them around. As soon as I brought Alaska down to the ground, she ran out of my arms and started chasing Alec around the yard.
I stared after them, breaking into a grin as Edward walked over to me and wrapped his arm around me.
"They are adorable." I smiled as I leaned into Edward.
"I know." He kissed my forehead. "Is everything ready for the gathering?"
"Yeah, everything's ready for the barbecue." I smiled. "Keep an eye on them, would you? I've to change into something better before everyone starts to arrive."
"I've got it." Edward smiled before kissing me. I went up on my toes to kiss him harder before pulling away and running into the house.
I arranged all the barbecue food on a plate before running up the stairs to change. I stripped out of my jeans and shirt and slipped on a sundress. It was one of the sunnier days in Forks today and that had put me in a good mood. I brought my hair down from the bun I had on earlier and my wavy hair fell against my back, looking even curlier than ever. I combed through my hair a little before running back down.
Just as I got to the last step, I heard a car outside. I went over to open the door and was greeted by a grinning Donovan.
"Hey buddy." I pulled him into a hug before waving to Rosalie and Emmett. "The twins are at the back, why don't you go join them?" I suggested to Donovan and he nodded at me before running off to the backyard.
I turned back to Emmett and Rosalie and hugged them both tightly. "It's so good to see you guys." I smiled.
"Good to see you too, sister!" Emmett boomed.
"How are the kids?" Rosalie asked as I closed the door.
"They're great." I replied, grinning. "They've been really excited about seeing y'all again."
The three of us walked to the backyard to see the three kids running around and screaming. Emmett went over to give Edward a fist bump while I settled down on a seat with Rosalie next to me. Donovan seemed taller than the last time he came by and that was only a few months ago. He was a year older than the twins but he definitely seemed their age with his boyish face. I guess he would only change his look once he enters high school, just like Emmett.
