~ Chapter 17 ~

"The Cullen twins aren't together for the first time ever?! What happened?" Heather placed her hand over her chest and gasped exaggeratedly. I stifled a laugh and scowled playfully at her.

"Alec had a last minute football meeting this morning so Donovan and him took off earlier than usual while I hitched a ride with my parents." I replied as I slung my arm over Heather's shoulders .

Heather was a head shorter than me which suited me well whenever I rested my arm over her; safe to say that it was comfortable for both her and me.

"Hey, I have something to tell you." Heather turned her head to face me as I released my grip on her to face my locker instead.

"What's up?"

"Nate finally noticed me yesterday." Heather shrieked silently as she slammed her body against the locker beside mine. "He's so much hotter up close, like that's actually possible."

I shook my head as I took out my books for first period. "You're so whipped." I closed the locker and faced Heather. "Did he talk to you? Say anything nice?"

Heather nodded her head so vigrously that for a moment, I thought she was going to nod it off her body. "First he asked me if I could help him take a chemistry worksheet for him and then he asked if he could borrow my spare pen and then," Heather dragged her words as she recalled her sweet memory with her crush. "He thanked me for lending him my pen. God Alaska, I swear to god that he has the best smile on the planet."

I chuckled and pulled her off the lockers as we walked to our first class. As we turned the corner, I spotted my brother standing next to the water cooler, talking to someone. With the student crowd partially blocking my view, I couldn't see who my brother was interacting with but he had a huge grin on his face which meant the person was either Donovan or a secret crush I didn't know about. But the person before him obviously was a guy so unless Alec was gay........ Hey I'm not judging, that would actually be pretty freaking cool.

"Hey sis!" Alec waved as he saw me walking his direction. Alec and I weren't exactly the same height but we were one of the taller ones in Forks High and that helped us greatly in finding each other in huge crowds.

As I walked nearer to him, the guy standing with my brother turned around and I froze on the spot.

Jace Scotts.

Well if my brother was gay for this asshole, I was definitely not cool with it.

Jace's signature smirk was plastered on his face as he turned to face me and I couldn't help but roll my eyes as I walked towards them. Thank god Heather was on her phone, totally enticed with the person she was texting that she didn't pay attention to anything infront of us.

I ignored Jace as I kept my eyes on Alec. "Ready to go?"

Alec nodded and fist bumped Jace before moving around him to join my side. Jace's eyes never left me as he watched me leave with Alec and Heather. I refused to match his eyes the whole time till I was safely around the corner. Heather had separated from us since her first class was different from ours while Alec and I were together for Government.

"Seemed like you were having a great conversation with Jace." I nonchalantly muttered to Alec as I sat down at my seat.

"I guess. I mean he's pretty chilled, he just joined the team today." Alec dragged his chair back to stretch and place his legs on the table.
