Bella's POV

"Bye mum!" Alec yelled from the porch while Alaska blew a kiss at me before both of them got into Donovan's car. I waved back at the three of them as I watched the car leave the driveway.

I smiled as I got back into the house to get ready for work. I ran up the stairs and entered the bedroom, noticing that Edward was still in the bath. I quickly slipped into a comfortable pair of black jeans and a sleeveless royal blue top. I pulled my hair back into a ponytail and started applying a light shade of make up on. I heard Edward come out from the bathroom a few minutes later just as I was spraying on some perfume. I spun around and saw Edward already in his work clothing but with his shirt tucked out and his tie undone.

"I think it's illegal to look this good in the morning." I smirked as I stood right in front of him to do up his tie. Edward kept his eyes on me and his lips pulled up to form my favorite crooked smile.

"Now you know how I feel about you everyday." He whispered and I grinned. I finished up his tie and straightened his shirt while he tucked it in. "All set?" Edward asked and I nodded.

I went up on my toes to kiss him and Edward didn't waste a second in returning me with a kiss just as passionate. I could feel him smile against my lips and his hands traveled down my body. I pulled away slowly and playfully pushed him away but Edward's iron grip on me disabled him from going far.

"Having you as my wife has its downsides, you know." Edward suddenly stated and I looked up at him in confusion.

"And what exactly are these downsides?"

"You don't know the struggle I've to go through just to head to work without you with me. I mean, can't everyday be bring your wife to work day?" Edward sighed.

"You're crazy, you know?" I laughed as I walked to the closet to grab my Scrubs and Edward's white coat. "And I know all about that struggle. Working opposite you isn't exactly the best option for me but you don't see me complaining." I smirked.

"You've always been strong headed, what can I say?" Edward took his coat from me and grabbed my hand as we descended down the stairs together. The house was much quieter without the twins around but as much as I liked the serenity, I preferred hearing all the silly arguments between those two.

Edward had skipped breakfast with us this morning since he woke up later than usual but I had packed him a sandwich so I grabbed that from the dining table on the way out and handed it to him. He pecked me on the cheek before stopping to fix his shoes. I slipped into my flats, not wanting to wear heels around a vet clinic and made my way to the car first. I started it while Edward locked the doors and joined me after a minute.

I walked over to the passenger's side and got in, strapping on my seatbelt just as Edward drove out of our driveway. Once we reached the main road, Edward's hands instinctively went to my knee and I placed my hand over his, holding it tightly.

"I'm sorry about last night." Edward muttered as he turned into the street.

"Sorry about what exactly?" I asked curiously.

"Dinner. Alaska. Almost spilling about the past." Edward choked out. It has been several years since the incident but I knew Edward still wasn't comfortable with talking about Jacob or the fact that I used to date a psychopath.

"It's okay, Edward. I know you didn't mean to spill anything." I comforted him.

"But she's going to have to know someday right? She needs to know that there are such maniacs out there!" Edward's grip on my knee tightened.

"I'm going to tell her when the time is right." I murmured. "She doesn't need to know anything about Jacob now anyway. God knows where that psycho is."
