Alaska's POV
I took in a deep breath and mustered up all my courage to knock on my parents' door. I had never been this scared of talking to my parents ever but this time, the nerves were kicking in like crazy. No words could express how ashamed I felt about my behavior last night. My mother didn't deserve that kind of a treatment from me; especially when I was the one who owed her everything.
Eventually, I closed my eyes and knocked on their door hastily, waiting for one of them to call me in. I kept shifting my weight between my legs as I waited. It felt like a millennium had passed before my father called me in.
I hesitantly opened the door and peeked through, expecting to find my parents in full rage mode. But to my surprise, both of them had a smile on their faces. My dad's one seemed a little too forced but hey, I'll take what I can get.
"Can I-" My voice came out in a squeak and I cleared my throat to start again. "Can I talk to you guys for a minute?"
"Sure Alaska." My mum gestured for me to come in and I did. I softly closed the door behind me and walked towards my parents. My mum was seated on the bed while my dad was standing at the large window at the end of the room with his arms crossed across his chest.
"I'm really sorry for what I said to you, mum!" I immediately rushed out as I went to my mother's side. "I swear I didn't mean to hurt you."
"Hey hey, Alaska." My mum gripped on to my shoulders and placed me on the bed next to her. "Calm down." She cooed.
"How are you not angry at me?" I looked up from my tearful eyes and fixed my eyes on my mother's concerned face.
"There's nothing to be angry over, Alaska. I understand how you felt." Mum smiled. I almost choked on my own saliva as I heard her reply. How could she still stay so calm when I practically insulted her?
I looked over to my father and he had a small smile on his face. He came over and sat on the other side of me. "Al, we forgave you the minute you realized your mistake. That's what families do."
I leaned into my dad and hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry." I mumbled.
"It's okay, just make sure you think before you start screaming at someone. Especially at your Mum." I felt my dad gently stroke my back and I nodded limply against his chest. I pulled away and turned to my Mum.
"I promise to never be that stupid again." I offered a small smile and Mum shook her head gently.
"You weren't stupid." She pulled me into a hug and held me tightly in her arms. "Your happiness means the most to us, we shouldn't have been too hard on you."
"But y'all are my parents!" I silently shrieked as I pulled away. "You mean the best for me and Alec all the time, I shouldn't have doubted that."
"Yeah, you shouldn't-" Dad started but Mum stopped him halfway, throwing a stern look in his way.
"We trust you to know what's right for you, Alaska. We aren't going to stop you from realizing what you want." Mum smiled.
I shook my head fiercely. "If you don't want me to see Jace anymore, I won't. Just say the word." I urged but my betraying tears were threatening to spill over.
"Alaska, look at me." Mum waited to speak till I looked into her eyes again. "Do you like Jace?"
I nodded.
"Does he make you happy?"
Another nod.
"Do you know how much your Dad and I love you?"
