Yana's POV: Elijah started feeling better after a few days and so we could prepare for the trial which was today.
While we were driven to the courthouse,we discussed in the car the plan that definitely would help us win the case.
I arrived in the courtroom where I sat down next to Zaire who was as always grumpy.
"You better win today."He said to me,I chuckled and replied"Trust me,I will."And gave him a smirk.
The trial started and that was the moment when I first spotted Ezekiel next to Miriam in public.
"Ms.Claude,your claims please."The judge said to me,I nodded and made my way in front so everyone can see me.
"Before I'm going to show you the claims,I'd like to invite my special witness."I announced loud and clearly.
"Elijah Sinclair Creed."I stated making everyone look toward the door.
The door opened widely by two cops and Elijah made his graceful entrance leaving everyone in a shock and so the chatter started in the room too.
Elijah walked with a graceful walk the aisle aiming all the attention while wearing handcuffs.
He looked over to Ezekiel and Miriam whose faces were thunderstruck.As Elijah arrived in front of me,he bowed respectfully and so I did.He sat down by the witness stand and the handcuffs got removed by a cop.
"Please introduce yourself!"The judge demanded looking at my guest with curiosity.
"Gladly.My name's Elijah Sinclair Creed,I'm Alexander's adoptive son."He introduced himself with confidence and a smile,everyone started chattering in a low voice.
"Silence please!"Demanded the judge and so it was."Ms.Claude,please take the lead."Said the judge,I nodded and started questioning Elijah.
"Mr.Creed,at what age did Mr.Leonte adopt you?"I questioned,"At the age of four."He answered calmly.
"How did you find out what Mr.Leonte did?"Was my next question."He told me and my adoptive brother Ezekiel Isaac Leonte a day before Mr.Bankole got arrested."He replied sincerely.
"And where did you find all the documents about project JSD?"I interrogated."In my father's office,he showed them to me and Ezekiel."He responded calmly and sincerely again.
"And my last question is,do you confirm that Mr.Leonte threatened Mr.Bankole with death so he can escape and look innocent?"I wanted to know."Yeah,I confirm!"Elijah answered the last question confidently.
Chatter appeared in the courtroom room.
"Silence!"The judge demanded while Elijah and I smirked at each other.
"I object,I don't know who he is...this man is not my adoptive brother!"Ezekiel suddenly started putting on a show.
The judge gave me a sharp look while I smiled and walked over to my desk.
"Here are all the original documents about Mr.Creed's adoption with Mr.Leonte's signature and of course the JSD project papers in original too."I held a folder up so that everyone can see it.
I handed them to the judge so he can look through it and so did to the jury.
After a few moments of discussing with his jurors,the judge announced leaving all of us in suspense"We will return with the verdict after a twenty minutes break."
Elijah was invited to sit in the public while I walked back at my desk,I gave him a confident look.
"Maybe I shouldn't have doubted you so quick."Zaire said to me,I moved my gaze to him and smiled showing appreciation and I replied"Just don't underestimate people at first sight."
Twenty minutes later... The break was finally over and everyone was excited about the verdict.
"We have heard all the important evidences and claims and my verdict for Mr.Bankole's case is not guilty."The judge announced and hit with gavel on the sounding block.
In that moment,I felt how my heart was about to burst out of my chest because of happiness while tears were about to appear in my eyes.
We all were dismissed.
"It was a pleasure to work with you,Mr.Bankole."I said bowing a bit,he nodded with a smile and thanked as if the end finally came.
Elijah waited for me at the door."I'm so proud of you!"He admitted with a bright smile,I chuckled and he kissed me on the lips.
We happily left the courtroom holding hands.
"Do you want to have lunch?"Elijah asked me on the way to the car."Yeah,sure!"I replied being all a smile and staring at him.
I looked around and remarked the whole courthouse was filled with reporters.
"Ms.Claude!"A male voice called my name from behind,Elijah and I turned half around seeing Mr.Dallas,Miriam and Ezekiel standing sixteen feet away from us.
Elijah and I proceeded to them.
"Congratulations for winning the case and the bet,Ms.Claude!"Mr.Dallas congratulated me with a confident smile.I smiled back and thanked.
"I've seen so many cases,but this one gave me the chills."Miriam admitted which actually was true,because it was supposed to give them chills.
"I mean,when I saw you entering the courtroom,I was completely shocked,because I would never even guessed that you were related to Alexander."Miriam claimed making Elijah giggled under his breath.
"Thought my brother has told you since you started working with him."Elijah replied back,Miriam and Ezekiel just gave each other a look.
Mr.Dallas tried to break the tension between us and assured me"Well,since you have won the case,you can whenever you want return back to Righteous."
I smiled and thanked,but I politely refused since they underestimated me.
Suddenly a group of reporters started surrounding us and asking questions.
"We'll leave now,have a nice day!"I said goodbye with a smirk and we left confidently letting everyone being amazed by us.
Elijah wrapped his arm around my back smiling at me satisfied and I smiled back.
