Miriam's Secret

Author's POV:
The Wednesday arrived and the first trial was coming in just two days.

In the evening,Elijah was waiting for Yana with the prepared dinner.They sat down at the table having some Black Angus steaks with fries and homemade BBQ sauce and as beverage some red wine.

While talking about how their day was,Elijah mentioned that he found a spacious bureau in a modern building.

"What are you suggesting?"Yana wanted to know cutting in her steak."I thought,we could buy the space and open our own law bureau."Elijah explained taking a sip of his red wine,Yana nodded thoughtfully looking down at her plate while chewing.

A few moments of silence passed.

"When can we see it?"She asked showing interest and looking at Elijah who smirked at her curiosity while chewing.

The following day...
Yana and Elijah visited the bureau which was located in a modern building where a few families lived too.

The landlord gave them the contract and thanked them for their interest.

"Have a good day!"He wished them and as he opened the door for them.

All the families who lived in the building where standing in the hallway.

Yana and Elijah just smiled and they smiled back and saying"Hello!".

Elijah took Yana's right hand and squeezed it softly and they walked through the hallway aiming all the attention to them.

In the same evening,they analyzed the contract and wrote the resignation for the law firm where Yana worked,because they accepted the offer.

The day of the trial
The trial day came and Miriam was the first one who led it.

While she was preparing the papers,Yana and Elijah arrived at the courtroom too and sat down next to each other on the left side in the middle row.

Yana threw Elijah a soft smile which he remarked it and smiled back.A smile that said"It's going to be alright."

He gently took her right hand and placed it on his left thigh and placed his hand on his.

The trial began and so the competition between them.

Miriram talked confidently during the first part of the trial which left a good impression on everyone.

As the break began,Elijah suggested whispering in Yana's ear"Let's go somewhere private."

She nodded looking at Miriam who was talking with Zaire and Mr.Martinez.

"She's good."Elijah admitted as they were in a private room,Yana sighed putting her hands in her pockets and laid her back on a wall.

"What should we do?"She wanted to know being a bit annoyed about the situation."I mean,she argued well,but she still needs information about Alexander."Elijah noticed.

"Let's just wait until the jury's verdict."He suggested calmly hoping that Miriam's going to lose.

"I hope so."Yana sighed approaching Elijah who took her into his arms and whispered"It's going to be alright,mon amour."Yana smiled.

The trial began after the break and everyone was excited about the verdict.

Miriam continued where she left and then added a few new information that led everyone in a shock,but mostly Elijah.

Miriam revealed about Alexander's past life and crimes which surprised the judge and the jury.

"Do you have any witnesses for those actions,Ms.Klein?"The judge wanted to know being interested in her facts.Miriam nodded her head and replied"Not today,but I'll bring them."

Elijah's mind:
Witnesses?There's no way she has so deep evidences.Is there someone behind?Does she know anyone in our mafia?

I need to find out immediately!

Author's POV:
"We've heard all the important proves and evidences."The judge maintained staring Miriam in the eyes directly.

"My verdict is still guilty,but let's wait to see what the jury says."That sentence that the judge just spoke made Elijah gulping,even though he looked pretty calm and relaxed.Yana looked worriedly at Elijah.

The important verdict came and it was shocking for most.

Zaire Bankole was still guilty for his actions!

The verdict let Elijah fall in relief.

"Thank you,jury for your service today.Court is adjourned!"The jugde exclaimed and left gracefully the courtroom and so did everyone.

Yana and Elijah stood up too and waited for Miriam and Dallas to approach them.

"That was a good trial."Elijah admitted not regretting saying it."Thank you!"Miriam said with a smile on her face."The next trial will be next week on Wednesday."Mr.Martinez announced all three of them.

"How would you know that?"Yana asked confusedly staring at her boss."I just talked someone from the jury."Dallas answered causally making Elijah nod interested.

"Ah,I almost forgot."Yana said and started searching in her purse while everyone else stared at her.

"Here's my resignation letter."She said handing it to Mr.Martinez with a huge ironically smile on her face.Dallas just frowned while taking it.

"I won't be working at Righteous anymore.I opened my own law bureau."She announced proudly while Mr.Martinez started opening the white envelope.

He quickly read through the letter while Miriam was looking away.

Mr.Martinez cleared his throat catching Miriam's attention and he maintained with a smile"If that's your decision,then I'll accept.It was a pleasure having such a hardworking personality in the firm.I wish you good luck,Ms.Claude!"

Yana and Elijah said goodbye and left the courtroom happy,because Miriam and Dallas didn't win.

Bruno was driving.

"I was phoning with my mother this morning and when I told her that we're together,she and my father immediately wanted to meet you."Yana informed who Elijah quickly put his phone away since he was scrolling through it and started listening to her.

He nodded thoughtfully when she was done and without any hesitation,he accepted and asked staring at her calmly as normal"Yeah sure,when exactly?"

Yana was surprised by his causality.

"I thought of tomorrow night?"She suggested with a smile."Great!"He admitted smiling back.

"When should I pick you two up tomorrow evening,sir?"Bruno asked politely looking in the rear-view mirror.

Elijah smiled and explained friendly"Thank you,but no need to.I'll drive us there."Bruno nodded to his response.
