Robin paced his room waiting for Victor to show up. Few minutes later the Guards left Victor in Robin's room. His neck collar was back in place and his hands were shackled to his back, a ball gag once again.
"You are Black death?" Robin asked without wasting time. "Dhasur's prince."
Victor's eyes remained hard, pinning Robin down with a challenge.
"Are you here to assassinate my family?" Robin asked, glaring at him. "You killed the king of Sarai, didn't you?"
Robin yanked the gag away. "Answer me!" he yelled. Robin was at the edge of his patience. First finding out about Victor's true identity, then meeting his apparent mate and now a royal assination in the palace. It was all too much for him.
"I did not kill the Sarai's King," Victor answered.
"Do not lie to me. You are the prince of Dhasur, are you not?" Robin asked, pointing a finger at him. His anger rose. How could he develop feelings for an enemy, one who was probably going to kill him. As if that wasn't enough he had a mate who he was going to betray. Even if he didn't want a mate he wasn't the kind of omega who cheats on his mate.
"I never lied to anyone," Victor said behind gritted teeth.
"Hiding the truth is worse than a lie," Robin twirled a strand of his hair in nervousness. "Joyce gave you a swod. Were you waiting for the perfect opportunity to kill us?"
"Only your father. And your brother if he takes the throne."
Robin placed his hands on his mouth in shock. "How dare you?" he yelled.
"I could kill you right now," Robin said, pointing to the red button on the collar remote.
"Do it, then," Victor said, raking his eyes all over Robin's body. Robin's body itched at the blatant regard. Robin had always been immuned to Alpha pheromones but with Victor his body went haywire. Like it didn't know what to do, how to function. His heart, his brain, every secret part of his body fought among themselves.
"You are so full of yourself, aren't you? If you want to kill them, why havn't you yet. Clearly you have been moving around the palace at your free will."
Victor smiled. "I would have killed them the day they captured me."
"Then why didn't you?"
"I saw you."
"What?" Robin frowned.
"I saw you reading in the garden and I knew you were my mate. This was the most unlikely place I expected to find my mate. I was in shock, for the longest time kept rejecting the notion of ever claiming you. I couldn't bring myself to think about a future where I would grow a family with King Marcella's son. But then I started to notice you around the palace. You were so different than I expected. I grew to like you against my will. If I killed your father without making you understand my reason you would have hated me forever. And I can't have that. That's why I waited."
"You manipulative bastard," Robin snarked. "You think I don't see through your facade? I already have a mate. So do not lie to me, I see right through you."
Victor's jaw clenched. "Who is he?"
"It doesn't matter. What matters is..."
Robin didn't get to finish his sentence. "Did he touch you?" Victor growled, his eyes furious.
Robin slapped him right across the face. Victor didn't even flinch.
"Who do you think you are?"
"Tell me his name, Robin."
Robin ignored his question. "I'll tell my father your truth. I will tell him you are not some soldier they captured but the prince himself."
"Tell them," Victor challenged. "If you want to side with a heartless asshole, go ahead and tell him. Go ahead and deny our connection. Deny the fact you went into sudden heat because you kissed me. Deny the fact that I am the only Alpha you are attracted to. Deny the fact that your heart doesn't sing when you are near me. That my touch didn't heal your heated skin during your heat. Deny everything Robin. That's what you are good at. Denying your freedom, denying your needs, denying your potential. Be your father's slave like everyone else is."
"Even if you were my mate, which you are not, I will never side with the enemy."
"Really. So you will side with a man who killed innocent civilians. He killed my mother, my father, a brother, sister, and an unborn child. He put so many holes through my unarmed mother's body that she was unrecognizable. Do you know why my commandar became their informer because your father kidnapped his family and blackmailed him. I knew what he was doing and I let him do it because I didn't want his family to die. But your cruel father killed them anyway."
Robin shook his head, praying Victor was wrong. "How do I know you are not lying?"
"Trust your instincts."
"I think you should leave," Robin said, needing time to think. His head was spiraling out of control. So much information to process. He knew his father was cruel but Victor wasn't any better. He knew what he did to his enemies, burned them alive. People commit all sorts of atrocities in a war, why should his father be the only one to blame. If Victor was pointing finger at his father he was no better either.
"I can't go more than 10 meteres away from the remote," Victor stated.
Robin took the remote and threw it against the wall. It shattered into pieces sending a wave of electricity through Victor's body. He collapsed on the floor and convulsed uncontrollably.
Robin ran to him, clawed at the collar, trying to remove it but it didn't move no matter how hard Robin tried. He screamed for the guards.
"Take the collar off," Robin screamed his demand, cradling Victor's convulsing body. What had he done?! What had he done?! "Help him for god's sake."
"We do not have the key, master," one of the guards said, looking wide eyed at the scene unfolding. "The warden has it."
"Then bring it from the warden! What are you waiting for?" Robin wailed. Victor's body stopped moving, his face started to turn blue as Robin watched in horror.
The guard ran out of the room. Robin waited, placing his lips on Victor's temple, feeling helpless. Only if he could take away his pain. He was to blame for it. He did this to him. He hurt him. No amount of shaking or calling his name woke up Victor. Robin sobbed his apology but Victor wouldn't respond.
The guard came back along with the warden a few minutes later. "What is happening?"
"I broke the remote," He screamed. "Take the fucking collar off."
He squatted down, put the key in the neck collar and took it off. He bent his head and placed his ear on Victor's nose. He stayed there for a few seconds, trying to listen to his breathing, he hesitated for a beat before looking at Robin and shaking his head.
"He isn't breathing. We will have to take him to the healer," the guard said.
Robin nodded with desperation, wiping his face. The guards picked him up and carried him to Sick Bay.
Robin sat by Victor's side as the healer arrived and checked on Victor.
"He is dead," the healer announced.
Robin slumped down on the floor, covering his face with his palm and sobbed silently.
