Victor could feel Robin was upset. The way he was refraining from looking at him, and smiled halfheartedly, Victor knew something was off. His family had gone back a long time ago and Robin had been acting differently since then.
"I am sorry they came without prior notice," Victor said, sitting beside Robin who was breastfeeding their son.
"I was wondering what took them so long to come see me," Robin said without looking up. There was a clipness behind his words like he was trying to say something without actually saying it.
"You were already so overwhelmed. I didn't want to burden you with people coming to visit you."
"They aren't just any people though, they are family, aren't they?" Robin asked, looking at him pointedly. "Moreover, you could have let me decide who I wanted to meet and who did not."
"What is the matter? Is something bothering you? Did any of my family members say something to upset you?"
"No, Victor, it's not about what they said. It's about what they are hiding."
Victor frowned. "Hiding? What are they hiding?"
"You tell me," Robin challenged, glaring at him.
Victor had a feeling one of his family members had said something about keeping them out of the Marcella Dynasty. He had his reasons, reasons he couldn't indulge Robin with, not right now. He needed to find a way to neutralize the situation first. There was a lot going on in the Kingdom, if he didn't tread carefully he could lose more than he had bargained for.
"I am not hiding anything from you. And if I am, there is a perfectly good reason for it. I need you to keep your mind relaxed and take care of yourself."
Victor saw Robin grit his teeth before rising from his seat and storming off with their son. Victor wasn't surprised by his mate's temper. There was nothing Victor could do to ease his worries except maybe show him how much he loved him.

Victor ran a hand along his mate's slender waist as Robin slept on his side. Their son had gone to sleep but he could feel Robin was still awake even though he was pretending to be asleep.
"You are wound up tight. Do you want me to give you a massage?" Victor offered, whispering it into Robin's ear.
He felt Robin shudder, as goosebumps rose over his arms.
"No. I am fine."
Victor sighed and slid behind him, kissing a soft line along his neck. "I don't like when you are angry with me."
"I don't like it either," Robin said after a long pause.
"Do you know I fell in love with you way before your initiation?"
"You did?" Robin asked, sounding surprised. "How?"
"I saw you around the palace. You weren't like other Marcellas. You cared about the people around you. And you weren't as clueless about the cruelties of your father as your family members. Even though there was a lot you didn't know you saw the condition your palace servants lived in. You were always so nice to them. I thought I was lucky to find a mate like you."
"I wish we had met in a different circumstance."
"You wouldn't have liked me then. I was a different man before the war."
"There were rumors you killed your enemies by lighting them on fire."
Victor chuckled. "I didn't kill anyone before the war. Although I accept I was a little standoffish."
"Would you have liked me if I wasn't your mate?"
"I wouldn't have allowed myself to like you. I am glad the time I spent away from you, observing you from afar. It helped to take away the murdering edge I had about every Marcella, and think of you beyond your family name."
"You hated me before?" Robin asked, turning around and facing him.
"Can you blame me? I had lost my parents, my sister, and my unborn nephew to your father's brutality. I wanted him to pay when I came here."
Robin placed a soft hand on Victor's cheek. "I am sorry about your family. I can only imagine what it would have been like."
"I live in a fear of losing you or Ragnor every day. It keeps me up at night."
"It's over, now. We are going to be alright," Robin said, leaning forward and kissing him. Victor sighed, feeling his mate's lips on his after so long. The kissing turned heated, lips tangling, legs crisscrossing, breaths mingling.
"We should stop," Victor said, pushing against Robin's chest.
"Why?" Robin asked, frowning. "You don't want to?"
"What if I hurt you? The healer said to give it some time."
"It's been more than seven months. I think I am fine," Robin said, trying to kiss him back.
Victor pushed him back on the bed and came on top of him. He kissed along his neck, rubbing his sensitive nipples with his lips before making his way down to his navel to the c-section scar on his lower stomach. "You are beautiful," Victor said, kissing the scar gently. "The most beautiful omega I have ever seen."
"Shit, I am sorry," Robin gasped, trying to pull away from Victor.
"What happened?" Victor asked.
"Nothing," RObin muttered before hiding his chest with his robe. Victor looked down to find a few drops of white liquid gathered on Robin's waist. Robin must have sensed Victor's eyes; he wiped the spot, blushing further.
"Are you worried about lactating?"
"I didn't realize I would leak spontaneously. It's embarrassing."
"Don't hide," Victor said. "It's nothing to be embarrassed about. You feed our baby and it's the most beautiful thing in the world."
Robin bit his lips nervously.
"Robin," Victor said, "Let me take care of you, baby," Victor said, kissing Robin's lips gently. "I want you to switch your brain off for the time being."
He pushed Robin down to lay on his back. Kissing line down his torso. For the first couple of months, they were too exhausted to even think about sex, waking up every few hours at night to get the crying baby. Then Victor took over and asked Robin to sleep at night while he fed their baby pumped milk. A full night of sleep did wonders for Robin's health, helping him heal faster. Victor regretted not doing it sooner.
Thank god Robin agreed to this because Victor had been missing the physical intemicy they shared. He didn't want sex. Sex could wait. What he wanted was to feel close to his mate.
Victor took care of Robin like he deserved, like Victor wanted.
"Victor, God, that feels....feels so amazing," Robin cried out.
"I know," Victor murmured.
Victor moved away too Robin's eyes were close with exhaustion, a soft smile playing on his lips.
"I love you," Victor whispered before kissing softly on his mate's lips and sleeping beside him.
