It was the first time Victor and Robin were attending an offical event outside of their Kingdom as a mated couple. They had become a legend of sorts. An Alpha King with an Omega King. It was unheard of.
Victor and Robin approached the grand gates of Hestros. An enormous wodden gate with scuptures of Gonmia deities engraved on it. The kingdom was known for its best architecture, and deep relegious beliefs. Which wasn't a suprise considering the King of Hestros was the desendent of gods.
"This place is beautiful," Robin exclaimed, looking at Victor for approval.
Victor nodded.
Robin had always dreamed of visiting Hestros, he had heard so much about this place, especially the King.
As they entered the palace, Robin's eyes widened in awe at the swirling decorations that adorned every surface. Colorful banners flapped gently in the wind. Robin turned to his Chamberlain to notes. He wanted to incorporate some of these decoration in his palace.
Sounds of music filled the air, drums, spring intruments, beautiful and melodious.
"Look at that!" Robin exclaimed, pointing at a group of performers dressed in elaborate costumes, their laughter infectious. Victor forced a smile, watching as Robin bounced on his toes, excitement radiating from him. For some reason Victor wasn't very happy about RObin visiting Hestros. Robin failed to understand why.
Several Kings, Omegas and Queens came to greet the two of them. Some of the faces were familiar while some completely new. Some looked at Robin with admiration while others with jelousy.
Robin was busy talking when he saw the crowd go silent. Everyone's eyes were set on the podium as the infamous King took his throne. The king of Hestros emerged from a plume of smoke. A man with god-like figure, swirling dark smoke for face with horns and a huge height that would leave anyone feeling like a minature.
The man's deep-set eyes glimmered like molten lava within the smokes. His voice resonated like a melody, smooth and intoxicating, as he greeted his subjects with charm. "Welcome, my beloved people! Let us celebrate the winter festival together!"
Robin stood frozen, entranced by Deroki's aura. He was equally facinated and amazed by the new King.
As the festivities began, Deroki made his way toward Victor and Robin, his gaze locking onto Robin's. "Ah, a rare beauty amidst the my usual guests," he said, his voice low and inviting. "What brings you to my kingdom, lovely Omega?"
Robin's cheeks flushed, and he stammered, "We... we came to enjoy the festival." He struggled not to blush at the smooth voice of the new stranger.
"Enjoy it you shall, but I must insist on being your guide," Deroki continued, his tone flirtatious and confident. "I promise to show you the magic of Hestros that few have the privilege to witness."
Victor's hands tightened around Robin's waist. Robin understood why his mate didn't want to bring him here. He felt amused at Victor jelousy. There was nothing to be afraid about. Robin only had eyes for him.
Although it was fun to tease Victor.
"I would love that. I can only image the look of horror on your countrymen's faces as you trot me around. I have heard you don't show yourself expect for the winter festival." Robin flirted back.
"You have heard right but I sent my most trusted people with you."
Robin smiled, maybe a little to wide. "I would love that."
"I will make arrangements then. Enjoy the party." And with that, he turned away to join another group of guests, leaving Robin with a wry grin.
"Enjoying the festival?" Victor asked, a teasing lilt to his voice, though Robin could sense a hint of edge beneath it.
"Oh, immensely," Robin replied, folding his arms and leaning back casually. "It's not every day I get to be personally welcomed by a king."
Victor's mouth tightened. "Ah, yes. How could I forget—the great Deroki, so full of charm and mystery."
Robin chuckled, knowing exactly where this was going. "Don't tell me you're feeling a little territorial, Victor."
Victor's gaze narrowed, though his lips quirked. "Territorial? Please. I'm just keeping an eye on my easily-distracted partner."
"Easily distracted, am I?" Robin's eyes gleamed with mischief. "Well, it is the festival, and Deroki does have that whole charming aura about him."
Victor sighed, shaking his head, though his lips betrayed a reluctant smile. "Charming aura? Really, Robin, I thought you had better taste."
Robin laughed, unable to resist pushing a little further. "I mean, you saw the way he looked at me, didn't you? Practically spellbound."
"Spellbound," Victor echoed, rolling his eyes. "Right. And I'm sure I am sure he does that to every omega he meets. I bet he is a pervert."
"I don't think so," Robin said, feigning innocence.
"You were encouraging him."
"Oh, absolutely not. I'm merely a guest here, doing my best not to break too many hearts."
Victor gave him a look, half amused, half exasperated. "You enjoy this, don't you?"
"What can I say?" Robin shrugged, his grin widening. "A little jealousy brings out your charming side."
Victor stepped closer, his gaze softening as he searched Robin's face. "I don't need to be jealous to be charming," he murmured, a touch of warmth in his voice.
Robin's teasing grin faded into a gentle smile. "True. You're plenty charming all on your own."
A rare, almost shy smile crossed Victor's face. "Good to know."
They stood in comfortable silence for a moment before Robin gave him a playful nudge. "Come on, I might even save a dance for you—if you're lucky."
Victor chuckled, his arm slipping around Robin's shoulders as they turned back to the festivities. "Just keep your eyes on me, and I'll consider it."
With a grin, Robin let himself be drawn into the warmth of Victor's embrace, feeling more at home here, at this festival, than he ever had before. As much as he enjoyed the thrill of attention, he knew that none of it mattered next to what he had with Victor—a connection far deeper and truer than even the charms of Hestros' godlike king could sway.
