Robin didn't want Victor to ignore his duty towards his nation yet a small part of him felt betrayed when he announced he was going to his home country for a month. Only a couple of months left for the baby to arrive and Robin was starting to feel nervous. He never gave it much thought before but as the date neared his discomfort grew. He knew omega deliveries were much more complex than female deliveries.

Dhasur was going through a major economic crisis after they exhausted all their resources to fight the war. Many businesses in their main city Tombark were shutting down, investors were pulling away, and even though Marcella's army had evacuated the country it was becoming hard for Lawrence to manage the crashing economy. Immediate action needed to be taken to remedy the situation. Victor had to travel back and forth between the territories quite often. But this time he needed to spend some time there to get the situation under control. Lawrence had asked him to attend several meetings with neighboring countries over the days.

"I don't want to go," Victor groaned in Robin's arms the night before his departure. "Especially now that you are so far along."

"But you have to. It's important," Robin said, feeling his heart heavy.

"Yeah," Victor agreed. "I will try to get back as soon as I can."

"Don't worry about me. Focus on your work. Make sure you get your losses covered."

"Hmm," Victor agreed, his face buried in Robin's chest.

Victor left the next morning with a lot of reluctance. Robin had two months left until his due date. He wasn't worrying too much about delivering the baby before Victor's return. However, Victor's stay was extended unexpectedly. Robin could feel something was wrong. Victor would always cut short their communication when Robin called. When Robin asked too many questions Victor evaded him. Robin didn't want to be one of those clingy mates but he couldn't help but ask when he was coming back.

"It's going to take a few more days. I am sorry I am not there for you but I wouldn't be here if it wasn't absolutely necessary," Victor said, sounding tense. There was something else bothering him and no amount of pestering could get the actual thing out.

Robin understood his need to be the King of his people, but it still hurt. Robin felt Victor was giving something else more importance than him even though logic said he was wrong. If there was something Victor cared the most about was Robin and their unborn child.

"It's fine. I don't think our little one is coming out anytime soon," Robin chuckled.

Robin went to sleep with some discomfort in his back which wasn't uncommon for him. He had been struggling with his back for the past few months now. He didn't think much of it. The next morning he woke up to a shooting pain in his back. When he sat up he realised his sheets were wet. His water broke. Victor screamed for the maids and they came rushing in through the door.

Victor had arranged everything in advance. The palace healer was present. The staff at the infirmary was present. Victor had all the help he needed yet dread settled in his veins like lead. Victor wasn't there and he was going into labour. Robin felt another knowing pang in his lower belly. His maids picked him up to help him clean up. They changed his sheets, changed his clothes, and made all other birthing arrangements. Things were happening way too fast for Robin to process. He had pondered for hours about this moment but now that the time had come, he was scared. He felt alone, and terrified to give birth.

"Can you bring in my sisters and mother?" he asked, turning to the woman standing next to him. The maids looked hesitant.

"What are you waiting for?" Robin asked, not having the patience to deal with anyone.

"There are orders to not let any royal members out," the maid blurted.

"Orders my who?" Robin snapped.

"Your mate," she answered.

"What?!"

The maids looked at each other nervously.

"What is it?" Robin asked, his anxiety worsening.

"I will bring your family," the older maid said before walking out of his room. His mother and sisters came rushing into the house a few minutes later. He couldn't greet them the way he wanted. He hadn't gotten the courge to face them again after the way they called him out for going against his country.

"When did it start?" his mother asked, panic in her face.

"My water broke I am not sure when. I woke up at dawn with havu contractions," Robin said, holding his back as it cramped like a bitch.

His mother held his hand as the waves of contraction hit him hard.

"You are going to be alright. Tim had done this as well."

"Your old tactics are not going to work this time, Mom. I know you have a tendency to lie. You did the same during my first heat."

"It's hard to see you in pain," she said, barely holding onto her tears. Even with his family, he felt lonely. The only person he wanted beside him wasn't there.

"The baby is not descending," the midwife announced.

Robin was too far gone in pain to respond. There was something spoken about cesarean. His mother leaned over him and asked "The healer said the baby needs to be delivered immediately, the baby is in distress."

"No! Get the baby out!" Robin exclaimed. "Nothing can happen to him."

His mother looked at him teary-eyed. She spoke to the healer about the risks but Robin couldn't focus, the fear of losing his baby mixed with the pain was making him mindless.

"Your baby is going to be okay," the midwife said. "The healer is taking you to the infirmary right now. They are going to operate on you and get your baby out safely."

Robin nodded eagerly. "Close your eyes. Try to relax," the woman added before the maids helped him move to the stretcher and he was being taken to the palace infirmary.

The heavily injured soldiers who occupied the infirmary peeked through their windows to look at Robin. The nurses, maids, and healers, all looked at him with interest.

He was rolled into the operating room. He felt a slight pinch on his arm and felt his whole body relax before blackness took over him.

Robin wasn't himself when he woke up. His memory was fuzzy, his stomach revolting. There was no one in the room when he looked around. As soon as he realized where he was and why he was there, he shouted for help. A woman came running, calling the healer on her way in.

"Where is my baby?" Robin asked.

"He is fine. You need to relax. Do not try to sit up. You have had a major surgery."

"Can I see my baby?"

"Yes. We will bring him in shortly. The healer needs to check your vitals first."

The healer came in a few seconds later, asking Robin questions that he had answered absentmindedly. All his focus was on his baby.

"Can I have my baby now?" Robin asked impatiently.

"You have lost a lot of blood. You are not physically ready to take care of a baby," the healer informed.

"Don't tell me what I am capable of doing! I want my baby right now."

The healer looked unsure. "Your mate has him right now."

Robin frowned. "Victor is here?"

"Yes. He came a few hours ago. He has been taking care of your baby since."

Robin wasn't sure how he felt. He should have been happy but he felt angry at Victor for not being with him during the delivery and now he had his baby when Robin himself hadn't seen him yet.

"Can you ask him to bring my baby to me?"

The healer nodded, "I will ask the nurses to bring you in your baby. But be cautious of your incision," the healer said before leaving the room.
