Robin woke to the sound of commotion outside their bedchamber. Victor wasn't in the room. Robin sat up and took Ragnarok in his arms. He looked outside the window to find it sealed shut. He tried to open the door but it seemed to be closed as well. Robin panicked. He wanted to go out.

A few seconds later the door opened and Victor's second-in-command came in, looking all flustered. "We need to escape. Your father's followers have invaded the palace."

"What? When? Why did no one wake me? And where is Victor?" Robin asked, his heart thrumming hard.

"Come with us," the man instructed.

He followed the man. He took Robin through a secret passage outside the palace where Aurther was waiting for him in a carriage.

"Where is Victor?" Robin asked again. "Why is no one telling me anything?"

"I will tell you everything but there is no time now. Victor is going to be alright. You need to come with us. I will take you to a safe place."

As much as Robin wanted to stay back and demand answers he knew his presence will only complicate things. So he left with Aurther.

"Where are we going?"

"A safe house. Victor had a feeling something like this might happen."

"Why would my father's followers attack right now? And who is leading them?"

"Your father."

"He is back? How did this happen?"

"Apparently it did. We got an intelligence a few months back that he had been building an army of his followers. Some of our enemy nations have been helping him."

"Victor knew about this all along, didn't he? Is that why he was gone for such a long time?"

Arthur sighed. "Yes."

"If he knew about the danger then why didn't he remove me from the Marcella Dynasty?"

"I am not sure, and we had a huge fight about it."

Robin felt betrayed. He thought Robin and his son were Victor's utmost priority. The only logic for not removing him came from the fact that Victor wanted to stay relevant among the Marcella people. Removing Robin could mean the Dhasur King had abandoned them.

They came to a place deep in the forest where a hidden underground area was prepared for Robin to stay. He didn't understand why Victor went so far as to prepare a safe house but didn't bother to remove him from the Dynasty which would be easier.

Robin stayed in a safe place that had all the amenities. Arthur stayed with him and they had no idea what was going on above. Arthur said Victor asked them not to come out until he came to rescue them.

Robin and Arthur stayed in the safe house for days. Since there was no communication from the outside world there was no way to know what was going on. Robin was starting to feel claustrophobic.

Weeks after weeks his hope for freedom got lost and he grew contemptuous of Victor. He couldn't spend the remainder of his life in a safehouse underground when he could be safe in Dhasur. Victor had his whole family there so why not Robin? Just to rule over Marcella, keep the pretense of a good King? God, Robin was starting to hate his mate.

"I want to go out," Robin said one day to Arthur, fed up with being underground.

"I don't know if it is safe."

"So what do you suggest? That we grew old in this shit house?" Robin screamed, scaring Ragnor, who was playing in a corner.

Robin dashed to his child, picked him up, and kissed him on the head, murmuring sorry. He was starting to lose himself.

The sealed door wooshed open with Victor standing at the threshold, bruises all over his face, some old, some new.

"Robin," he gasped. Robin stood at a distance, the anger brewing inside him preventing him from going to his mate. "I saved your palace."

Robin frowned.

"Is Harold captured?" Arthur asked, walking up to his brother.

Victor shook his head. "He escaped and I have a feeling he will attack again. But I have Marco and Marcella Palace is under our control."

"I don't need the palace, Victor. All I need is for my family to be safe. My child to be safe. And you with me."

"I am with you, sweet," Victor said, placing his palm on Robin's cheeks. "And nothing will happen to our child. I will make sure of it."

"Why won't you take me to Dhasur?"

"Because you are meant for the Marcella Dynasty. You are not meant to be a homemaker, you are meant to rule, to lead. Your people need you."

"I don't understand," Robin said, frowning.

"You will."

He took Robin back to the palace where the whole of Capital City was waiting outside the palace grounds to greet Robin.

Robin was overwhelmed to see so many people together, more so because they were excited to see Robin.

"Quiet, people of Capital City. I promised to bring your new leader, your new King and I have done kept my promise. I present to you, Robin Marcella, your new King."

There is a combined uproar or approval in the crowd. Robin looked at Victor with wide eyes, shocked at his announcement.

"Victor," he gasped.

"Yeah, love, this is what you wanted, didn't you? There is no one more deserving of this position than you."

Victor turned to the crowd to address them again. "Two Hundred years ago when Marcellas came into power Capital City prospered, it rose to the top. It became the richest country in the world. Harold Marcella changed that with his tyrannical rule. He took without giving, he exploited his country and the people of his country. As a King of a secular country, I believe secularity is the solution to equal rights but proper leadership comes from competent leaders. Robin has been chosen by your people to take his father's position as the new King. And he hasn't gotten the position not because of his ancestry but because of his knowledge and his contribution to the war. He has and will continue to serve the people of his country to his capacity and I as his mate will support him in every step of the way."

Victor goes on his knees before Robin and bows, giving him a sword as an act of respect. Robin felt tears bead in his eyes at the gesture. He didn't think anyone would want to make an Omega a King ever but his mate believed in him. Robin remembered how every time he mentioned wanting to become a King, how Victor never made fun of him, or discouraged him in any way. If anything he explored that idea if not encouraged him. Victor believed in him when Robin didn't believe in himself.

"Thank you, my Alpha," Robin said, taking the sword from his hands and bowing to show him the same respect he showed him.

"I promise to become the King my country deserves and needs. I, Robin Marcella, solemnly swear that I will faithfully work for the people of my country, to the best of my ability, to preserve, protect, and defend my nation."

The crowd roared again, chanting Robin's name.

"Robin Marcella the Omega King."
