Chapter 17: Insects In Action, Part 2

Sofia and Penelope meanwhile were in the computer rooms with Ollie as he was in his Roly-Poly Shield.

"Is Ollie really gonna be in that shell just so he won't get killed?" Sofia wonders.

"He's just a scaredy cat, babe." Penelope replied. "People like him are scaredy cats."

Ollie got out of his shield.

"Hey!" He shouted at Penelope. "Name more people that are scaredy cats because I am NOT one!"

"Your two cousins, Rosie and Willow." Penelope replied. "Uhh… Guess that's it. You three are all blonde-haired so it makes sense to me."

Ollie sighed.

"You're right." He said, "I'm not brave."

Ollie then walked away from the girls for space.

"And I'm not even a real man." He said, "The way I cry and the way I act…"

Penelope sighed.

"Ollie, listen, man…" She said as she walked over and pats him on the back. "You are a man, but that's just normal for folks like you to show off emotions."

"Really?" Ollie asked.

"Yeah. Remember when your father cried over a friend of his passing away?"

"Yeah and my mom hates that he's showing his emotions… Which leads to mom leaving us…"

"Yeah you have your father's blood."

"We're both blonde, so it makes sense to act like that sometimes…"

"But it's good because you have emotions. It doesn't matter if you're a guy or a girl, or nonbinary, you have emotions and don't let anyone tell you otherwise because they're jackasses anyways. Well mostly women like your mother, but still."

"Thanks Penelope…"

Sofia smiled as she heard the conversation.

"Wow… Penelope really has a way with words…" She said, "Kinda lucky for dating a girl like her after escaping my family with her…"

Sofia then heard crawling in the ceilings.

"What the heck?" She said as she snapped out from the sounds of crawling. "What's there?"

Sofia then walked over to Penelope and got close to her.

"Hey there." Penelope said. "Something wrong?"

Sofia then pointed Penelope and Ollie to the sounds of crawling in the ceilings.

"Well shit." Penelope said.

Then, something started to bang on the ceilings.

"Ok, this is getting out of hand!" Penelope shouted. "Everyone stand back!"

A hole appeared as a claw poke out of it.

"What is that?!" Sofia shouted, scared.

"Probably either a preying mantis or a scorpion!" Penelope shouted as she comforted Sofia. "It's ok, babe, I got you!"

A glitchy mantis jumped out and roared at them.

"It's a mantis!" Penelope shouted as she saw the door. "Let's escape! I have a plan!"

Sofia, Penelope and Ollie all left the computer room. The mantis watched them leave and roared.

Outside, Sofia and Ollie were listening to Penelope on a plan she is coming up with.

"Ok, so here's what I want us to do." Penelope said. "And I'm hoping that our gadgets that we're carrying under this game can help us."

The mantis then crashed the door from the computer room it was in down as it stared at Sofia. Sofia tuned her Cicada Earbuds to launch out a sound wave that makes a chirping noise cicadas would make. The mantis roared in pain. Penelope and Ollie meanwhile were behind the mantis.

"Let me go first!" Penelope said. "And then you finish that thing off!"

"Uhhh… I don't know about that!" Ollie said. "I'm afraid of fighting a bug like mantises up close!"

"Listen, Ollie."

Penelope puts her hand on Ollie's shoulder.

"Be brave for us." She said, "Could you do that?"

"I'll try." Ollie replied as he gulped.

"That's all I want to hear. Now, let's do this!"

Ollie then got into his armor, charging up. Penelope then looked at the mantis as it stared down at her.

"Taste some of this!" Penelope shouted as she got out a spray bottle. "Tick Spray!"

Penelope then sprayed her Tick Spray at the mantis, blinding it.

"Now, Ollie!" Penelope shouted at Ollie.

Ollie then dashed towards the mantis as a ball of armor and hit it at the head. The mantis then crashed down to the ground as it then faded away. Ollie then returned to his normal state.

"HOLY SHIT!" Ollie shouted. "THAT WAS SICK!"

"YEAH!" Penelope shouted. "WE DID IT!"

All 3 then reunited as Ollie hugged very titghtly to the girls.

"H-Hey!" Sofia shouted.

"Too tight man!" Penelope shouted.

"Sorry!" Ollie said as he let go. "Got a little excited."

"Yeah, that was cool and all, but we're gonna go back to our tasks."

"She's right." Sofia said. "That thing wasn't like a final boss or anything."

"Oh, ok, sorry." Ollie said.

"It's fine." Penelope said as she walked back inside the computer room.

"Wait up!" Sofia said as she and Ollie followed Penelope back inside.
