Chapter 18: Insects In Action, Part 3
Malcolm and Lyric were at the control panel, looking around.
"This is where Caterpillar was killed…" Malcolm said.
Lyric was silent.
"If Fritz shows up here, then we escape to another location." Malcolm said. "Because I know that our friend was responsible for it. I just know he had killed Caterpillar."
Lyric gulped.
"M-Malcolm…" She said, "I'm scared…"
Malcolm walks over and comforts Lyric.
"Don't worry…" They said, "I'm here for you… That's what couples are for… They look out for each other. We should do the same…"
Lyric hugs Malcolm. Malcolm was surprised.
"Now you're really afraid of being lonely…" Malcolm said. "Aren't you?"
"I am…" Lyric said. "I have no one else but you… Literally…"
"Lyric…"
"My parents do not like me for dating you and when I came out as Pansexual… They neglected me throughout my life… Even when I tried to ask help from my only brother, he refused… You were there… You moved me out and gave me a better life… Without you, I would have kicked my own bucket by now…"
"Lyric! E-Ending your own life?! W-Why did you bring it up?!"
Lyric slowly started to cry.
"I'm sorry…" She said, "I got a little carried away… And for some reason, I still can't escape my past…"
Malcolm comforted Lyric.
"There there…" He said, "I understand… And just know that I'm always here for you… Always…"
Lyric sniffed.
"Thank you…" She said, "And I'm sorry for bringing it up…"
"No, it's fine…" Malcolm said. "Just… Be careful with what you say around me, ok?"
"I'll try."
"Good…"
Both kissed each other on the lips. Lyric giggled.
"I love you…" Lyric said.
"I love you too…" Malcolm said. "Now then–"
Both then heard chattering from outside of the control panel.
"Let's get out of here!" Malcolm said. "Come on!"
"Right next to you!" Lyric said.
As Malcolm and Lyric left the control panel, Fritz walked in.
"Ah… No one is here…" He said, "Good, because I'll get started on my tasks here…"
Outside, Malcolm and Lyric were hiding under a door that leads to the control panel.
"What do we do?" Lyric asked.
"I don't know…" Malcolm replied. "Maybe we need to think of something. Do we have any abilities?"
Malcolm then waved his hands and discovered his ability.
"Moth's Powder Brush…" They said, "A brush… What does it even–"
Malcolm's Moth's Powder Brush appeared, and it was a big brush.
"--Wow… Interesting." He said, "Lyric, do you have anything?"
"Let me check." Lyric replied as she waved her arms to open up her ability. "A Cricket's Soundplayer? What does that do?"
A soundplayer box in Lyric's hands appeared. Her antennas in her outfit started to buzz.
"Woah!" Lyric said.
An echo was made, scaring both of them. Lyric quickly puts away her gear.
"That was unfortunate!" She shouted,
"Accidents happen!" Malcolm said as he and Lyric got up and ran away. "Let's hide!"
Coming out of the door, Fritz looked out.
"I thought I heard something…" He said, "Eh, it must have been my imagination."
Fritz then went back inside.
