The music blasted in Robin and Steve's ears as soon as they had stepped inside, as usual "king" Steve had many people to greet while Robin stood awkwardly to the side contemplating if she should've even come.

After Nancy had finished greeting people at the door she joined Steve in conversations about school, friends and drama about who was dating who.

Robin made her way over to the drinks table to look like she was doing something as to avoid being roped into small talk.

Steve had finished his conversation and headed over to Robin.
Robin handed him a drink and took a sip of her own, "are you having fun?" Steve asked while wiggling his eyebrows at the girl. "Yeah soooo much funn" Robin said in a sarcastic tone, "well it's about to get better, look who's here" Steve said with a sly smile plastered on his face. Robin turns her head, her eyes glancing across the room until they settle on a short red-head.

Vickie.

Robin visibly blushed and smiles slightly, Steve turns to Robin with a big grin on his face, he puts his hands on her shoulders "go gett'em"

Robin try's to compose herself while walking over to Vickie, a smile can't help but sneak it's way onto her face. "Hi Vickie! I didn't know you would be here!"
"Oh hi Robin! Yeah I kinda got roped into it at the last moment haha" Robin almost died at Vickie's laugh, it was so perfect. In fact everything about her was perfect.
" are you here with anyone?" Robin asked looking around, " yeah my boyfriend, he's came back from Purdue and long story short.."

robins heart sank.
Vickie got back together with her boyfriend?
She felt her eyes start to pool and her vision became blurry, she turns away and wipes a tear, making sure Vickie couldn't see. Vickie kept rambling about her boyfriend not noticing that Robin was is a distressed sate. "I uh- I have to go" Robin stammered failing to keep her voice steady, "oh are you..." Robin hurried off  before Vickie could finish her sentence.

Robin weaved her way through the crowd of people her vision blurry and the music pounding louder than before on her ears, she frantically jimmied with the bathroom door, locked.
She spotted the stairs and ran up them entering the first door she saw. She sat down on the bed and let it all out, the sadness and frustration crashing over her like a tidal wave.

After a long minute of sobbing Robin wiped her eyes and grabbed a tissue from the pink bedside table. Wait- Robin looked around the room, shit. It was Nancy wheeler's bedroom.
In all the hurrying to get away from Vickie, Robin hadn't bothered to take in her surroundings, now she was paying the price.

Without warning Robin heard footsteps, how was she gonna explain this?? Should she hide? Pretend she walked into the wrong room? Shit.
She didn't have time to do anything before the door swung open, standing there was Nancy.

Nancy looks at the girl, "Robin?" The girl had red eyes and damp cheeks and she looked almost dejected, nothing like the the rude, sarcastic girl she had former known. Robin jumped up "I-uh sorry" Robin mumbled getting up to leave.
"Are you ok?" Nancy loudly whispered, slightly blocking the door. "Yeah yeah I'm fine" Robin assured although she didn't sound that convincing, "are you sure? I know we aren't on the best of terms but you can talk to me."

Although Nancy was the last person Robin would've gone to for emotional support, she was too heartbroken to care, she burst into sobs, she tried to speak but was choked with tears, Nancy gave her a big hug. Shocked but grateful Robin leaned into the hug.

After staying like that for a few minutes Robin the the first to pull away, "Im sorry" oh god, what was she doing? She had just cried in front of Nancy wheeler. "No need to be, it's ok." There was a pause before Robin started up again "I'm so sorry, there was just this gir- uh boy who I liked and they... ended up getting back together with their partner or something" she almost laughed hearing it out loud, she realised how stupid she had been, crying over a girl who barely knew she existed.

Nancy smiled "it's ok!" She said gently, "honestly I'm not having much fun either" Nancy admitted. Robin looked up at her with a confused face while Nancy continued "boy problems, I guess you get it." "Well if you need to talk I'm here" Robin added not really knowing how to comfort her. "Thank you" Nancy responded a smile creeping its way back onto her cheeks.

The two girls headed down stairs, at this point steve was ready to go home as well. Robin opened the door and sat in the front seat of Steve's car, the engine turned on and they pulled out of the driveway. "Soooooo what happened with Vickie?" Steve inquired " She has a boyfriend apparently" "what?! I thought she broke up with him" "yeah well I guess they got back together." " I'm sorry rob" sorrow filled Steve's voice. " it's ok, honestly I don't think we were ment for each other anyways" "so your not disappointed?" "I am disappointed but I'm fine now" Robin replied a smile on her face, Steve seemed happy with that answer and started talking about some girl he had met during the party as Robin's thoughts drifted away.

Maybe Nancy wasn't as bad as she thought.
