"Hey nance you coming to the party?" A friend of Nancy's, (though they had never been that close) exclaimed. Her name was Jessica, she was an extrovert, very loud but always had a way of charming people.
"Um sure! I'll have to double check tho" Nancy replied half a smile on her face. "Ok cool, bring anyone u want!" Jessica yelled while walking off and waving, Nancy waved back before returning her attention on what she was previously doing.

Later that afternoon, while Robin was stacking tapes on the shelves and Steve was attempting to flirt with a lady customer, the phone rang. Robin jumped on it taking any excuse to stop her boring and long task of stacking shelves all day. "Hello family video here how can we help?" Robin said in a professional manner, composing herself. A giggle was heard from the other end on the line quickly followed by "it's me Nancy" "oh hi nance!"

There is was again.
The way she said my name.

"Hey Robin, so there's a big party tonight and I was wondering if you and Steve wanted to come?" "Umm sure! Steve is busy right now but I'm sure he'll come"
Robin replied glancing over to Steve who was still trying to flirt with a random girl on the other side of the store.
"Ok, I'll pick you guys up after work?"
"Sounds good! See ya later alligator!" Robin exclaimed and quickly put down the phone.

'See ya later alligator'??? Why the fuck did I say that, oh god she's probably gonna think that was so weird.
Robin thought while covering her face with her palm and grimacing.

Nancy heard the silence on the other side of the line and put down the phone, blushing slightly.
God she was so adorable.

Robins eyes landed onto Steve who was now behind the counter with her, putting tapes into place, Steve looked back and caught her eyes "why ya staring Buckley? It's creepy." Steve taunted looking back at the girl who was now biting her nails in anxiety.
She didn't reply only kept looking at him biting her nails, "hey is something wrong?" He asked in a much more serious and caring tone than before.
"It's just.." she replied trailing off.

Robin should tell Steve. Shouldn't she?
I mean they were Best friends, they told each other everything.
But this was different, this wasn't a rumor she had heard or that mole she had found on her back, this was his ex.
I mean it's not like she could just be like: "do you want to go to this party? Oh and also I have a gigantic crush on you ex girlfriend that you were in love with and superrr hung up on".

In one word she was screwed.

Robin took a deep breath before cautiously speaking "umm Steve, you know there is something I wanna say" Steve looked at her trying to decipher what she was gonna say by the look on her face; which in turn was a look of mixed emotions and uncertainty. "Come on, whatever it is it can't be that bad." Steve assured trying to comfort the girl who was now avoiding eye contact. Robin took another deep breath before saying " I have a crush? I mean I think I do..." knowing perfectly well that she did in fact definitely have a crush on Nancy wheeler.
"You know I already knew right? Is that what this is about? You know we have told each other our crushes before right? I mean I practically tell you every girl that walks by" a look of relief washes over Steve's face before Robin continues " it's just that she is different" Steve raises an eyebrow, "different how?" Robin pauses before continuing "she's your ex."
Silence falls between the two, Robin was now panicking at Steve's silenced state though, not wanting to say anything before Steve replied.
After what seemed like hours Steve finally spoke up, "Nancy wheeler?" He said, still giving no indicator to his thoughts.
Robin sighed slightly, "yea.".
