Robin x Nancy // maybe we aren't that different

Chapter 4: a friendly match

Robin let out a sigh (that was deeper than intended) and Steve glanced over to her while continuing to flick through the big stack of tapes, "what's wrong with you" Steve asked half heartedly
" I'm SO BOREDDDD" Robin groaned dramatically falling over the counter and flopping onto the floor. She opens one eye expecting to see Steve but is surprisingly greeted with Nancy's face looking down at her.

Nancy laughed as Robin went bright red and scrambled to get up, tripping over her own feet, "nance uh- what are u doing here?" She says a little embarrassed. "I'm here to go to the game with you and Steve" she giggled lightly.
Steve began walking over to were Nancy and Robin were stood, "hello hello ladies" Steve mocked, a grin pulling on his cheeks as Robin pulled a face "I invited her" Steve said still grinning, he turns to Nancy "our shift is over in 5 then we're outta here"

Nancy wonders around the store while the other two start to close up, her eyes scan the rows of tapes and shelves.

After about 4 minutes Robin emerges from the back of the store in a musty green band uniform, there were frills around her neck and she was carrying a green hat that had a big yellow feather stuck in the middle of it.
"Robin I didn't know you were in band?" Nancy said stifling a laugh, "well I wouldn't be going to this stupid game if I didn't have too" Robin replied rolling her eyes. "You look good in green" Nancy sarcastically giggled, "ha ha" was all that Robin replied before Steve came out from behind the counter, "all packed, up letsgoo!".

The three got into Steve's car and started to drive, the ride there was anything but quiet, Steve had started talking about one of the many dates he went to, robin throwing in a sarcastic remark every once in a while that always led to Nancy and her breaking down in hysterics.

After about a fifteen minute drive the three arrived at the school, Robin jumped out of the car and ran off almost knocking over a herd of people while trying to wave to the others.

Steve and Nancy made there way to the gym while Robin stood awkwardly with the other band kids occasionally waving to Nancy and Steve.

Robin glances to her side and sees the short red-head appear, "hey robin!" Vickie said flashing a smile.
Not really knowing how to respond, Robin smiled and was about to say hi before she was cut off by the sudden start of the game.

Robin didn't wanna talk to Vickie, what if Vickie had seen her crying that night at the party? Then again did it even matter? Was she over Vickie?

Her eyes quickly dart to the red head.  she felt nothing.
Not the normal flutter of butterfly's in her stomach or how sweaty her palms got when she thought about her, nothing.

Relief filled her and she relaxed slightly, but part of her missed having the butterfly's, the excitement, the little scenarios she would make up in her head to get her through the boring parts of the day.

after the match finished Steve and Nancy waited for robin outside of the music hall, they were talking about their lives and engaging in polite conversation when robin burst out of the doors hands raised dramatically. "UGH BAND IS SO BORING" she belted so loud that I'm sure the kids outside could hear, Nancy let out a giggle and Steve rolled his eyes "Sush you better hope the kids in band don't hear that" he stated glancing at the kids who were still putting their instruments away, "oh I WANT them to know that" she called loudly again.

Just then Vickie walked out of the doors and stood momentarily beside robin "don't worry I don't love going to band either" she joked, robin giving her a smile "bye! I'll see you next rehearsal!" Continued Vickie walking off.

Steve stood there quietly before saying "do we still like Vickie?" In a hushed tone, forgetting Nancy was there Robin replies " I honestly don't know, I don't think I feel anything towards her anymore" as she shrugs "and it's not like it's her fault for getting back together with her boyfriend"
Robin remembers Nancy and quickly looks over at the girl who was looking confused, "shit."

"Is that the person you were crying about at the party?" Nancy questioned "you were crying??" Steve added looking confused now as well. "Shit" Robin repeats not really knowing how to say anything else. "But you said 'a boy you liked?'" Nancy questioned again slowly piecing together what had happened

"Robin do you like girls?" Nancy slowly inquired, Robin searched her face for any type of emotion that might give her a hint to how she was going to react but to no avail, "yes." She admitted bracing herself and holding her breath a little, Nancy's confusion turned into a warm smile "it's ok Robin you can breathe now" Robin looked at the girl sighing a little "y-your ok with it?" She said hesitantly, "of course" she said softly smiling.

Steve interrupted "YOU CRIED??" Still shocked at this fact, "WHY DIDNT U TELL ME? Are we not best friends anymore???" Robin let out a laugh "relax I got comfort from someone else jeez" followed with a big "WHATTT" nance laughed "I'm coming for the best friend position" she taunted, Steve still looking shocked.
The three of them walked down the hall Steve still asking various questions as the other two laughed.
