Fucking hell Robin
Why the hell would she get mad over this of all things?
Of course she knew that Robin didn't exactly love Johnathan but she really didn't think what she said was that bad, in fact she thought she was being quite reasonable i mean, he seemed so genuine.
She arrived at her house and went in the door. Her brother was sitting in the lounge and set his eyes on her as she walked in.
Her cheeks still burning with anger and her mind still racing, lost in thoughts of the heated argument.
She was just so mad.
She needed to talk to someone.
"Why don't you just go visit him instead"
Maybe I will, Fuck you Robin.
"Mike, Tell mum I'm going to Johnathan's I'll be back later." She blatantly called out to him.
Turning around a small voice in the back of her head told her not to, but who else was there? Obviously not Robin she was the one Nancy was mad with, She couldn't talk to Steve, his loyalty had always been for the other girl not her and he would almost certainly tell her, and all her other friends didn't even know about robin and would probably freak if they found out. So there she had it. Johnathan it was.
It was a long way to where the Byers were staying but her thoughts kept her thoroughly occupied and the time seemed to fly.
Her steps toward the door where slow almost as if she was debating turning around and leaving right there, but she didn't. Her hand knocked on the door, staying in a fist even after.
The boy opened the door a look of pleasant surprise spreading across his face. "Um- hey Johnathan" Nancy muttered, "what are you doing here nance?" He asked, curiosity showing in his voice. She paused before speaking, "You keep showing up at my house i thought, I might as well show up to yours". He let out a chuckle and looked her in the eyes, "ahh of course"
"Um- may I come in?", He nodded and stepped aside letting her into the house, "so tell me, what are you actually here for?" He questioned. She took a deep breath, "I honestly don't know Johnathan. I just had a fight with R- I mean my partner, and I don't know..." she buried her hands in her face.
She didn't really know what she expected from Johnathan, to be completely honest she didn't really have a plan for all of this. He slowly put his arm on around her back in a comforting manner, and Nancy resisted the tears that were begging to fall, "this doesn't mean I forgive you. I just.. didn't have anybody else to go to" She muttered a slight quiver in her voice when she finished.
Robin didn't know what to do.
She knew she shouldn't be angry but she lashed out anyway, she knew it wasn't Nancy's fault but she had been stressing all day it had all just become too much.
Even with her mind clouded she knew she had to apologise. She picked up the phone and dialled Nancy's number.
The tone rang three times before a shrill voice picked up, "hello?", Mike. "Hey Mike, is Nancy home?" She replied trying to sound as normal as possible, "no sorry, she said she was going to Jonathan's try there" .
What. The. Fuck.
Mike had hung up but Robin was still standing there, the phone up to her ear with shock.
Of course. One fight and she goes crawling back to Johnathan, just like he said.
The shock numbed her and she didn't even realise the tears spilling out of her eyes until they were already staining the floor.
She dialled the phone again this time putting in what she knew to be the Byers number, hoping that Nancy would pick up and not Johnathan.
"I'm just going to get something from my room I'll be right back" Johnathan said calmly, gesturing to the upstairs part of the house, "ok" was the only reply he got out of Nancy since she was still pretty honestly shaken up.
The ringing of the phone in the Byers kitchen is what snapped Nancy out of her daze.
She turned and picked it up, "hello, Byers residents", "Nancy...?" The voice was small and raspy and the person had very obviously been crying. Robin.
"Tell me It's not you. Tell me your not at Johnathan's house right now." " I-..." Nancy spoke trying to get any excuse out that sounded half-decent. "Johnathan was right, he was fucking right. Fuck you Nancy wheeler." With that Robin slammed down the phone. she knew she should've let Nancy explain herself but she didn't have the mental capacity to hear another bullshit excuse.
She closed the store trying to keep the tears in that just seemed to keep coming. She curled up under the desk hiding away, pushing all the hurt and pain down deep inside of her.
After about half an hour of calming herself down she decided she didn't have the energy to walk home, for the last time that day she reached for the phone, this time dialling Steve's number.
"Hello?" "Hey." "Robin?", " yeah." Her voice was horse from the crying and she didn't have the energy to pretend to be fine. "Are you ok?" He said almost immediately recognising the change from her usual tone, "to be honest, no. Can you just um- can you pick me up from the store? Please?" "Of course, I'll be there in 10." He responded before hanging up the phone.
Just like he promised he was there in no more that 10 minutes, Robin was sitting on the bench out the front of the store, her cheeks tear stained, her fingernails torn and jagged from all the biting and her messy hair falling loosely over her face.
"Rob, oh my god what happened? Are you ok?" Steve called running over to her. Robin looked up and Steve could see the tears in her eyes.
he sat down next to her causing her to rest her head on his shoulder.
"Me and Nancy had a fight." She spoke after a while of just sitting there. Steve only waited and let her speak. " and, I knew I was in the wrong but I got mad and then she left so I called her to apologise but- but, turns out after the fight she went to see Jonathan..." "oh Rob..." Steve muttered turning to hug her, " and he-, he came to my house." She added her words spilling out, "what? Like after the fight?" "No-no the day before. He told me how he knew we were together and how Nancy didn't actually like me..." "Robin... I'm so sorry."
Once again Robin felt her eyes cloud with tears and before she knew it they were running down her cheeks, " can I, um- stay at yours tonight?" She mumbled out between sobs.
"you don't even need to ask."
I'm sorry for what's to come...
