In the morning the Nancy was packing all the things she would need for Robin's into her burgundy duffel bag, smiling to herself.

Meanwhile Robin was panicking, sure it was just Nancy— she had hung out with Nancy tons of times, but for 3 days and 2 full nights??! Fiddling with the rings on her fingers for comfort she thought over the plan, despite the nervous churning in her stomach she was over-the-moon excited.

Hearing a knock on the door Robin rushed downstairs eager to see the person she so torturously waited for.
Flinging the door open, her smile dropped seeing that instead of Nancy no one stood at the door. Eyeing the empty space she spotted a envelope sitting on the rustic welcome mat that embellished the front porch. She picked it up and flipped it over only to find that it was addressed to her. She slid her thumbs under the paper opening the envelope, inside was a white Polaroid picture the back facing her. It had an array of numbers on it that she assumed to be the date.

Carefully, she took the picture out and flipped it to reveal the photo.

Her heart dropped, her eyes widened, her body stiffened.

What. The. Fuck.

Her mouth felt dry and the beating of her heart became overwhelmingly loud drowning out any sense of her surroundings she had prior.

The picture showed to people kissing, Nancy and Johnathan.

Before this she had never truly experienced heartbreak but in that moment Robin swore she could feel the shattering of the fragile glass that was her heart.

The seed of fear that had planted its self when Johnathan first visited began to grow.

Before she knew it tears struck her eyes and her vision turned cloudy, how could Nancy have betrayed her?

Stupid, stupid stupid. How dumb I was for actually thinking she liked me. Of course Johnathan was right, Nancy never cared about her.

Timing was clearly not on her side when she heard the crunching of Nancy's car pulling up in the gravel driveway, quickly she wiped her eyes and put the picture in her pocket not really knowing what she was doing.

Nancy— even from inside the car could sense that something wasn't right, Robins face didn't look quite as ecstatic as she had hoped in fact she looked like of, sad? No. Angry? She couldn't tell.

Robin watched her facial expressions not changing as Nancy walked up the path towards her. "Robin?" Nancy started.

Shut up.

No reply so Nancy tried again "R-Robin?".

Shut up.

Still Robin didn't utter a word, "Are- um you ok robs?"

Stupid Nancy and that stupid nickname.

At this point Robins eyes were brimming with tears and Nancy could see it, "oh robs, what's wrong?" She tired once again this time leaning in to hug Robin. Robin pushed her away.

Her emotions had become so strong it almost felt as if her own monster had formed, its claws wrapped around and digging into her heart and lungs making it impossible for her to breathe and think clearly.

Her eyes were closed now but a clear stream of tears were running out of them, Nancy moved back, hurt by Robin not accepting her gesture but also a taint of worry on her face as she tried her best to calculate her next move.

A small chuckle left Robin's mouth before the following words spilled, "what the fuck is wrong with you wheeler."

What??

Nancy opened her mouth as if to say something but nothing came out before Robin spoke again "why? Why? Why? You told me it was nothing!", the tears continued to fall as she spoke.

The confused look on Nancy's face was what prompted Robin to take the photo out and show her.
Robin could tell by the stiffening of Nancy's body and the loss of words that Nancy had in fact known something about the photo.

"Say something! Tell me it's fake. Tell me it's edited. Just say something!" A silence settled between them, it didn't last for very long but to both, it felt like a lifetime.

"i-i-..." Nancy started breaking the unspoken barrier," I'm sorry. It was nothing, he just pulled me in and I-"

"I can't believe it."
"W-What?"
"I can't fucking believe it. Johnathan was right this entire time. You never liked me, it was all just a big plan to get back with him. hurting me well, that was was obviously just a bonus."
"I-"
"Wasn't it? It was just a ploy to get back with him, make him jealous, make him take you back." Robin let out a passive chuckle before continuing, " I should have know someone like you would never date someone like me."

"Robin, I didn't do this to hurt you, this is all just a big misunderstanding, I kissed him— well he kissed me and then-"

"Unbelievable." Robin croaked out, tears still flowing like a river down her pink tinted cheeks. "I-I can't do this anymore." She sounded almost sorry as she spoke, " We're done."

Nancy couldn't speak. She couldn't breathe. She was frozen her eyes welling up with an eternity's worth of tears.

the sadness and heartbreak drowned out almost everything, she could hear her heartbeat pounding beat after beat like knocking at her door.  her breathing became shallow only able to grasp small gulps of air at a time.
she almost didn't hear Robin words, Almost.

"Fuck you Nancy wheeler."

Nancy flinched at the words, sure she deserved it but hearing it out loud cut through her like a sharpened knife.
She didn't even realise Robin was closing the door until she heard the crashing slam that echoed through her, leaving a bitter taste in her mouth.

So there it was, it was over.

Robin slamming the door leaving Nancy's heart in a million pieces on the grimy, soiled welcome mat.
