Well, this is my breakfast. A cold, pretty stale and small pizza to go along with a bottle of liquor. This motel doesn't even offer decent food besides the vending machines in the lobby. I crumble up the small bakery bag the pizza came in and chuck it to the trashcan in the middle of the room, only for it to hit the edge of the trashcan and land on the ground. I groan to myself, plopping onto my bed. After a night of continuously waking up hour after hour, I felt drained. It didn't help that Markus' friends were practically screaming at each other through half of the night. I stretch my arms above my head whilst releasing a yawn. I should really get a move on. I can't stay here for too long. I don't know where I'll go or what my destination is, all I need to do is get far away from my home as much as possible. I'll probably find a cab somewhere. I stand up from the edge of the bed and take a moment to stretch out my legs. What a great way to start off the day. In a dirty, old motel filled with loads of shady people or prostitutes. Ugh. Well, time to hit the road. With the quarter filled bottle of alcohol in my hand, I snatch the room's keys off the desk against the wall and make my way out. Okay, so current plan is to check-out, grab a cab and tell them to drop me off at whatever place. I make my way over to the door, only to pause in front it before I opened it. I look down to the big glass bottle in my hand and purse my lips. Where are my manners? I can't just go out walking around with an almost empty bottle of liquor in my hand in broad daylight. I'll look like a lost drunk roaming the streets. Then again, I don't want to throw the bottle away with some of the precious liquid still inside... oh, well. Down the hatch it goes. I pop off the cap and wrap my lips around the bottle, tipping the bottle until all of the substance inside was gone. I let out a satisfied sigh after gulping it down, wiping my wet lips with my sleeve before dropping the bottle into the trash bin.
Off I go. Opening the door to the hall, I step out of my room only to be greeted with eerie silence. Silence that you'd never hear in an old, broken down motel. There's always some sort of yelling, crashes, or any type of loud noise. But today in particular, nothing. I assume it's still early in the morning. I probably woke up sooner than I expected. I walk down the hall, making my way to the lobby of the motel. Nobody is there. Well- it wasn't completely empty. In one of the chairs of the lounge, which isn't exactly a 'lounge'- it's more like a small spot in the middle of the motel for people to relax- sat someone I barely recognized until I stared for a prolonged time. "Hey, (Y/n)." the voice from the person sitting on the chair startled me out of my thoughts. Oh, of course. The guy I met yesterday- what's his name? Mark? Markus? Yeah, Markus. I put a smile upon my face. "Hey... good to see you again." I smile as I walk over to him. He seems to be holding a small packet of M&M's in his hands which he most likely got from the almost broken down vending machine. I take a seat across from him before taking another quick look around the reception. "Yeah, no one's here, oddly enough." Markus commented upon seeing the confused expression plastered on my face. "No one's here?" I repeated, turning my head back to look at him, "where'd the staff go?"
"Beats me." Markus shrugged his shoulders, lifting the packet up to his mouth to down a couple of M&M's. "Want some?" he offered, offering me the small package. I smile, denying his offer by shaking my head, "no thanks." I twirl the key between my thumb and index finger as I continue to look around. It's so quiet. Like everyone completely abandoned the building. I guess I'll wait ten more minutes, if no one shows up by then I'll be on my way out. In the meanwhile, I can create small talk with Markus to keep me entertained. "So, how are your friends doing?" I question. Markus swallows the M&M's he had left in his mouth before glancing out the doors of the motel. "They're still a bit agitated and decided to leave. My guess is that they went to cool off." he replies. Unsure how to reply to that, I let out a simple "oh." Markus hums in agreement before crumpling the empty M&M's packet. "Anyway, not to be rude or anything like that, but why are you here?" Markus slightly leans forward in his chair, as if he's extremely interested in what my answer is gonna be. Taken aback by the sudden question, I simply stare at him for a few seconds, "what do you mean? I'm here for the same reason as everybody else. Have a place to stay." I respond nonchalantly. Markus chortles before resting his back against the chair again. "In an old, rotten motel? Right. You're not a hooker, or at least don't look like one, you don't seem shady in any way... there has to be reason as to why you're staying here." Markus fiddles with the plastic wrapper in his hands as he curiously looks up at me. The fact that he sounds so confident too... it made me feel as if he already knew my intentions.
