"Mm...?"
I reach my hands up to my face, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I felt exhausted, yet felt like I just woke up from hibernation. I let out a yawn as I plant my hands firmly on the soft mattress to hoist myself up into a sitting position. I curiously look around the room I was in. The once sunny weather outside was suddenly replaced by a more gloomy one. Gray clouds hiding the dark blue sky, and letting little water droplets rain down to earth. I could hear the rain clattering against one of the windows. It looked like it was already night. As I scan the room I was located in, I suddenly feel a hand being placed on top of mine. A rather small hand- if I say so myself. I almost flinch at the contact as I snap my head to the side to meet with a pair of bright hues that shined with excitement. I recognized these eyes somewhere. These eyes most definitely belonged to a little girl.
"Yay, you're awake! I'm so glad you're back!" The little girl squealed, throwing herself onto the bed I was on and wrapping her little arm around my torso, snuggling her face into my stomach. "Well, I mean, I'm not glad that you're here because you're hurt, but I mean- I'm just super glad to see you again!" The girl rambled into my stomach with a big smile. "Cici?" I question. The girl lifts her head up, unwrapping herself from my body. "Yeah?" she replies innocently, cocking her head slightly to the side. It takes me a moment to process everything. I'm certainly in a hospital. But if Cici's here, that can only mean they took me all the way back to my town. Realization hits me like a brick as I quickly scramble off the bed, startling the little girl who sat on it. The side of my waist felt uncomfortable, to no surprise. It didn't really hurt, considering a blade pierced my side, but it certainly stung just a bit. Cici stares at me with a confused expression etched onto her face, "hey, um, I don't think you should be moving so much." Cici speaks out of concern as I start to frantically pace around. Maybe it's not too late. Maybe I can still leave, again. There is still time, right? While contemplating my new plan, someone suddenly opens the door to my room and cautiously looks inside before entering.
"Oh," a sudden deep spoken voice rang out throughout the room, one that I was not expecting. "I see you're already up and about, surprisingly." an older doctor, probably around his 40's spoke up. I was expecting maybe Samantha to come in... No matter. "A-Ah, um... yes, I'm okay! C-Can I go home?" I question nervously. The balding doctor arched a bushy brow. "It's a little too early for that. I suggest maybe another few-" before he's able to finish his sentence, I immediately protest, "no! N-No, um... I-I really need to leave. Please." I beg desperately. The doctor, however, was having none of it. "Now, now, miss (L/n)," he walked towards me before lightly grabbing my arm. "please get back to bed. You might hurt yourself by moving too much." he lead me back to the bed where Cici slightly shuffled to the edge of the bed to make space for me. I submit to his orders and simply sit back down onto the bed. Even though stress was already filling up my mind, I did my best to remain calm on the outside. "Now, there are few people that would like to question you." the doctor speaks up. Question me? Question me for what? The first thing that came to mind is some sort of news person to ask me about the details of what happened, but my guess was too far fetched, apparently. As if right on cue, two police officers walked into my room, making my heart accelerate. Are they here for me? I haven't done anything wrong, have I? Oh God, I don't remember what I could've done.
The doctor stepped out of the room as the police officers stepped next to my bed, eyeing me before eyeing Cici. One of them looked well built, around thirty years of age. He had neatly combed black hair and blue eyes to match along with a slightly scruffy beard. Almost reminds me of someone. The other one looked a tad older, maybe forty. He had a hairy mustache above his upper lip and short dark brown hair that looked rather messy. "Little girl, do you mind going back to your room? I need to speak to the lady alone." the eldest officer asked Cici. She stared up at the police officers before looking over to me, as if asking whether she should stay or not. Considering I have no other choice, I let out an inaudible sigh of defeat before forcing a smile upon my lips. "I'll be fine. I'll meet up with you after, okay?" I state. Cici purses her lips in doubt before nodding. "Okay. See you soon, (Y/n)." her voice had a hint of disappointment, but she hid it well with her smile as she exited the room. The youngest officer shut the door after Cici left as the eldest one took a seat next to the bed, staring me down. I shuffled uncomfortably, averting my gaze from his. I was never good with keeping eye contact. Especially with officers that come out of nowhere. "So, miss (L/n)..." the youngest one trailed off as he snatched a chair from somewhere in the room, pushing it besides the bed next to his partner.
