I enter my room, shutting the door behind me after Whiskers enters himself. I'm not sure what these private conversations with Liu are about, but all I know is that they make me an anxious wreck. For all I know, they could be planning on murdering me. I take a glance out the window. Would I be able to jump out? No, no, that's utterly stupid. I'd surely break a bone or two from jumping such heights. I paced around my room. Whiskers decided to take a seat on the bed and follow my back and forth movements. I could hear the TV downstairs, sounding louder than usual which drowned the voices of the two males. They probably increased the volume to prevent me from listening in. I let out a sigh and allow myself to plop on the bed, causing Whiskers to bounce a bit from my impact. My mind is still stuck on that news report. I'm on television, and not in the way I dreamed of. This means that everyone now knows I'm missing. People are probably looking for me at this precise moment. Just thinking about it makes me giddy. It makes me feel like I'm actually worth something if people are legitimately looking for me. The least I expected would be posters of me around town, but not an actual news broadcast. I stare blankly at the ceiling. Man, those two were taking their sweet time, huh? I feel Whiskers make his way on top of me until he reaches my face, staring right into my eyes. He stays like that for a while before he raises a paw and hits me on the nose. I snort, picking Whiskers up and holding him above me with stretched out arms. "Alright, you're worried too, I know." I hum as I sit up straight, placing Whiskers back down.

Would it kill me to just take a quick peek around the corner to see what they're talking about? I stand up from the bed. Their voices seem louder. Much louder. It sounds like they're shouting. I slowly tip toe over to the door, pressing my ear against it. They sound too muffled, I can't understand a thing. As softly as possible, I twist the doorknob of the door and push it open. Now it's clear that they're shouting. I slump over to the staircase quietly.

"-don't tell her. No matter what, you keep your mouth shut!" Masky's voice is in a loud sneer.

I notice Whiskers bouncing his way over to me, rubbing himself up against my leg. I wasn't paying too much attention on him this time. Liu's voice wasn't really heard at this point. For the next couple of seconds it was just silence. "If you don't want her to know your dirty lie, then you won't tell her mine. So it's best you stay quiet." Masky's voice rang up again, a bit more softer than before. Lies? I'm not surprised. Of course they would be lying about something. But what? What could it possibly be? I swallow hard, gripping the handrail of the stairs. I don't know what he was doing or why he has to scold Liu, but I'm stopping it. "Tim?" I call out. The room below suddenly goes quiet, the only sound heard came from the TV. Masky cleared his throat. "Just a minute, sunshine!~" From his voice, I could tell he was tense but he still tried to cover it up with a overly happy tone . His next words were hushed, I couldn't understand them. I decide to make my way downstairs, listening as Masky's words died down. As soon as I get downstairs, it's dead quiet, besides the TV. I could see Masky standing in front of Liu. Masky's arms were crossed over his chest whilst Liu's hands were clenching and un-clenching themselves, as if holding back from doing something. Due to the mask, I can't exactly portray how Masky feels. Liu, however is easy to read. His eyebrows were furrowed and he was averting his gaze from everything. He took in a sharp breath as he turned away from Masky. "I need a moment." Liu's voice was soft as he walked past me, making his way up stairs. I wanted to know what got his mood down so suddenly. Before I was able to ask anything, Liu had already gone into his room and closed the door with a slam. I cringe at the sound as I turn over to Masky with a questioning, yet concerned stare. "He's just acting like a child right now, don't worry, princess." Masky reassures me before relaxing his body, allowing himself to take a seat on the couch.

I glance up the stairs. It's quiet. I know I shouldn't intervene with their business, but I can't help but feel worried about Liu. He's the one that allowed us to have a roof under our heads, after all, if there's something going on with him, I'd like to help like he did with us. I cast a glance towards Masky, noticing that he had his full attention on the TV. I slowly walk backwards towards the stairs, keeping my gaze pinned onto Masky. Whiskers was still up the stairs, looking down at me with a tilted head. I take a few steps up until I'm halfway through. Masky doesn't seem to care. Just as I'm almost at the top, I hear Masky calling me out. "(Y/n), where are you going?" He didn't even turn around to look at me, how does he know I'm going up the stairs? "A-Ah, I-I'm just..." my words get stuck in my throat for a few seconds. "...going to our room." I quickly make up an excuse. Masky hums. "Alright." He simply replies. I release a breath of relief before taking the last few steps until I'm up at the top. Whiskers mewls before rushing his way over to what I assume is Liu's door. His sharp claws start scratching at the door, as if trying to find a way in. I shuffle over to the door, lightly knocking on it with my knuckles. I wait a few seconds, but there is no response. "Liu?" I call out softly. I really hope Masky won't be able to hear me. I'm keeping my voice as soft as possible. I take a step back, just in case Liu decides to step out. Nothing. Even Whiskers looks disappointed. Just as I was about to leave, I hear the door click open. "Hey, sorry, uh, I just needed a couple of minutes." That wasn't Liu's voice. That's Sully. Whiskers paws at Liu's pants, begging him to pick him up. Liu happily obliges, scooping up Whiskers into his arms. "I just... Are you okay? I feel like something happened back there." I keep my voice hushed, taking a quick glance at the stairs. Liu smiles. "Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just..." Sully trails off, taking in a deep breath.
