"Mm...?"

A slight shuffling besides me made me flutter my eyes open. My vision was temporarily blurry until I blinked a couple of times to make it sharp. Shuffling through the cabinet of the stand besides my bed was Samantha. She catches my gaze and smiles apologetically. "Good morning! Sorry if I woke you up, I needed to get some things." She explained herself a bit embarrassed. I gently shift up in my spot, pushing myself into a sitting position before smiling at her. "No worries, you didn't..." I was interrupted by an upcoming yawn before finishing my sentence, "...wake me up." Samantha beams brightly with a big smile. "I'm glad! Anyways, I'm sure you're hungry. Our food isn't the best, to be honest, but would you still want something?" Samantha offered. I subconsciously crinkle my nose. Last time I ate hospital food I remember it being frozen food just shoved into the microwave for a minute before being served to a random person. Yikes, no thanks. I'd rather not go through that again. "Oh, no thanks. I'm not hungry." I politely decline her offer. I think skipping breakfast won't be a big deal. I turn my head over to the side, expecting to see Masky there. Instead, all I found was an empty chair. Since when did he leave? "Oh, I almost forgot! Mr. Wright left to do some errands and might not be able to come back today. At least, that's what he told me." Samantha explained once she noticed I was staring at the empty spot for quite a bit. "Oh, I see... That's fine. Thanks for telling me." So, looks like I'm alone for the day. I don't mind, but then that means I don't have anyone to entertain me with. Not that Masky was entertaining or anything, but you get the point.

"So, we don't have much in here besides a television," Sam catches my attention by clicking a button on a remote, causing a small TV-screen to unfold itself from the ceiling. Huh, I didn't even notice that. "I hope that's enough to keep you entertained." Sam smiles, placing the remote control on my lap. She sounds in a hurry to leave. Other people are probably needing her help. "Oh, yeah, thanks." I smile as I grab the remote into my hands. With a clipboard clutched in her hands, she starts rushing out the room. "Remember if you need anything just press the button to your side, see you soon!" Samantha blurts it out so quickly I almost miss what she said. In a flash, she's out of my sight, leaving me isolated in my room. Well, I guess I can't do anything besides just stare up at a TV screen. With the click of a button, I surf through multiple channels. Nothing catches my eye, until I stumble across the news channel. The headline is what got my full attention.

Headless body found in woods.

I wasn't really paying attention to their words. I was paying attention to the images. They weren't gruesome, more like disturbing, knowing what had happened to her. The camera was standing a few feet away from the woods, capturing the moment where two men dragged what I assumed was Emma's body, which was safely shielded from anyone's view since her corpse was covered by a body bag. I shivered at the sight as I blinked away the tears. I don't want to see it. I just don't want to think about it. I quickly click away from the imagery, coincidentally changing it to a kids channel. I place the remote down on my lap and rub at my teary eyes. Just don't think about it. I lean forward, bending my arms behind my back to straighten up my pillow before leaning back on it. It sounds stupid to watch a kids cartoon, but it might just be what I need to get my head off of things. You know, watch something lighthearted, what kids usually watch. About friendship, peace and kindness, the usual kids show. This is what will have to entertain me for hours for now on.

Just as I was dozing off into a peaceful slumber, I suddenly hear a knock on the door. I quickly straighten up my posture and blink a couple of times to seem fully awake. "Uh- come in!" I quickly blurt out. The door opens, revealing a rather tall, skinny looking male entering the room. He didn't look like a doctor nor anyone that worked at the hospital. His features held a blank expression and his eyes barely had any emotion in them. As he stepped into the room, another female nurse that I didn't recognize smiled at me. "Miss (L/n), you have a visitor." She spoke lightheartedly. I furrow my brows. I don't recognize him from anywhere. One of his hands held a white plastic bag, in which I couldn't see what the products inside were. Just before I was about to protest, the nurse was already saying her goodbye. "If you need anything, you know how to call us." with that, she shut the door. Boy, these nurses have a lot to do, apparently. The male takes a seat on the chair where Masky previously was. He placed the bag on the ground and peered over his shoulder for a few seconds to look at the door. My eyes never left him. A stranger wants to visit me? He had dark hair, which almost looked like a shade of blue in the light. His eyes were a dull blue and his skin seemed oddly pale, but that could just be the light. Once he is done looking over to the door, he turns back to me. I almost jump, realizing he probably caught me staring at him for a prolonged time. He didn't call me out on it, though. "I'm with Masky." He finally utters out. Now that my eyes were darting everywhere but his eyes, I noticed he was wearing a blue jacket over a black shirt. His jacket even has a cute little smiley face pin attached to it.
