Chapter 35: Annoyance Is Key

Nora and Bart couldn't believe it, they couldn't believe Jay was alive, they were so sure he was dead; that Henry killed him without contempt; without emotion

But yet here he sat in the cortex as Irma helped to check him out, she wasn't exactly a doctor but she had a little bit of knowledge of being a medic

Bart was so angry, this was even worse than killing Jay, keeping him alive, trapped; it was a fate worse than dead, being alive but not being able to live

Nora on the other hand didn't know how to feel; should she be angry? I mean Henry didn't kill him; so maybe, just maybe there is the slightest hint of good in Henry; all she needed to do was find it

Irma finished checking on Jay as she turns to Nora and Bart

Irma: He's perfectly healthy, could use a little bit of water and maybe some rest but other than that, he's fine.

Bart glances over at Nora before turning to Irma

Bart: What are you saying?

Irma: Henry kept him fed, kept him alive, Bart. This is good news.

Irma smiles as she looks at Jay and gives him a nod before she clears her throat

Irma: I'll give you all a minute.

She says as she leaves the med bay to allow, Nora, Jay and Bart to talk

Bart rubs the back of his neck as a slight smile crosses his face, he was happy to see Jay alive and well, the man who taught him the things his father couldn't and seeing Henry kill him or well "kill" him was like his heart broke into a billion pieces and now here he was, alive and well

Bart: I don't know what to say.

Nora: Neither do I.

Jay gets up from the bed as he groans slightly and Nora and Bart rush over to him to help him out, but Jay didn't want help

Jay: I'm okay, I'm okay.

Bart: You heard Irma, you need to rest.

Jay scoffs slightly as he starts to walk out of the med bay as he takes a breath, in what felt like a bit of breath for the first time in years, he could finally breathe

Jay: I just need to get some fresh air.

Nora: Where did Henry keep you, Uncle Jay?

Jay sighs as he turns around to Nora and Jay, they had questions which was an overstatement considering all the questions they had which was more than he could answer

Jay: He kept in a cave. A dark cave with just the slightest hint of light, I could see it but I couldn't feel it.

Bart: But why did he let you out? Why now?

Jay: Something about telling you all the truth. And by all of you, I mean you Bart.

Bart's eyebrows raise as he looks at Nora and Jay and then back at Nora before looking at Jay and stepping forward a bit but a good distance away from Jay

Bart: What truth? What do you mean?

Jay sighs as he walks over and sits down in the chair as he puts his hand out and motions for Bart to sit
