Chapter 18

LISA

I was glad my girlfriend came to check on me. That means a lot to me. I didn't want to create any unnecessary issues between us so instead of arguing with her that night I just let it pass and tried to get over it on my own. Well, I still get affected by it. She's with me and she chose me. It should be enough to boost my confidence somehow. Maybe it is just all-natural to get insecure over some things. I have to practice managing my issues so they will not be a problem in our relationship.

So she came to my office to just maybe tease me about posing nude as my consolation. She's hella crazy for even suggesting that. Sometimes I don't even know why she's being so bold these days. What a real tease, huh? Anyway, she asked me to eat outside so I gladly accepted it. I took her hand. She was surprised because she knows how conscious I am that someone who knows me could see us together all lovey-dovey. But nuh, I wanted to hold her hand and would take the consequences later. It's liberating to be carefree like that. How I wish we can be the same Lisa and Joohyun just like in the Bahamas.

We were in a restaurant of her choice when we were just checking for an available table that we could take. Out of nowhere someone excitedly approached me. Not so good for a start.

"Oh, what a small world! I didn't know we would meet here."

Joohyun looked at me as if accusing me. She chose this place so how would I know if Park Sooyoung would be at the same restaurant?

"Hi, Sooyoung-ah. Yeah, it seems the world is getting smaller." I awkwardly replied.

"Oh, and you are with?" Sooyoung noticed that Joohyun and I were still holding each other hands. Of course, my girlfriend slowly retracted her hand but I didn't let her. I held her hand tighter. Ready to take the risk of being with her.

"I am with-"

"I'm Irene, Lisa's best friend."

I was about to tell Sooyoung that Joohyun is my girlfriend and would ask her to keep it a secret. I think I could trust her about it. However, the latter already handled the situation on her own. I wanted to oppose it but I just let it be.

"Ahhh, well." Sooyoung looked again at our clasped hands. "Yeah, I'm Joy, nice meeting you Irene. I thought Lisa only knows one celebrity. It seems I am mistaken." The disappointment was written all over her face.

Joohyun laughed. Basically, Sooyoung thought she was a celebrity too and I could understand exactly why. "Ahm, I call her Joohyun and she's not a celebrity, Sooyoung-ah. She's a lawyer like me. You might have seen her on the news because of the Newsann Group lawsuit." I thought it was good to brief her that Joohyun is not just someone but she's a big personality who is famous for her achievements as a lawyer.

"Oh, right, yeah I remember it now. So she's the beautiful lawyer that has been on the news on several occasions. Wow, I didn't know you have an amazing bestie here, Lis. She did great in that case. She served justice to the poor employees who were forced to do labor." Sooyoung couldn't help herself but be amazed about my girlfriend. Of course, it made me proud of Joohyun too.

"Not just because she's pretty. Joohyun, I mean Atty. Bae Joohyun is really cool." I added. "Uhm are you not with your friends?"

"I can totally agree and would be very proud to be associated with her, Lis. No wonder your eyes sparkled. Anyway, I was actually with my staff but I would love to join you. I will just get my things over there." She excused that I wasn't able to tell her we would want to have lunch just the two of us.

"What just happened?" Joohyun asked. She wasn't amused that someone is joining us.

"Sorry, I was about to decline it but she already welcomed herself without any invitation from either one of us."
