Court hearing
Lisa was beyond annoyed when all the defendant's witnesses were his co-stars who acted very well and said the same thing to convince the judge that there was really a relationship between Joy and Sung Jae. Not only did they throw their co-worker under the bus but they were simply gaslighting her for being careless while dating Sung Jae and entertaining another man. It was Atty. Choi's tactics. He's known for his dirty play. And the funniest thing about the claim was the photos taken during the promotion of Joy's and Sung Jae's previous project. The chemistry was undeniably there like a real-life couple but Lisa believes only in Joy's word. She felt bad that Joy had to go through that because it was necessary. She could see how hurt Joy was. She was betrayed over and over again by the people she works with within the industry. They took a recess and she took the chance to talk to Joy in private. She assured her this will be over soon and she does not have to see Sung Jae's face anymore.
Lisa glanced at the evidence on the desk. Then turned to her rival attorney. As usual Atty. Choi Minho wears his famous smirk. She tried to focus and not to be agitated by him. She started to question Sung Jae. The defendant looked as confident as ever. He obviously expects that the result would favor his side. "Mr. Yook, I understand you and Ms. Park used to be friends until you showed your true motives. And the exchanged messages your team presented last time were not in full context." She motioned to present the exhibit on the projector. "Here's a deleted conversation between you and Ms. Park. She was asking you to stop messaging her. And you literally threatened her. Have you physically attacked Ms. Park?"
The defendant was frozen on the stand. He didn't know how the other party was able to retrieve the deleted messages. He thought his father already paid the detectives to destroy any evidence that could put him in a bad light.
Lisa cleared her throat, "Once again, I'll ask have you physically attacked Ms. Park?"
"No, never. I, I." He was looking at Joy as if asking for forgiveness. " I never laid a hand on her. She's too precious to me." His voice was shaking.
Joy didn't look back. Sung Jae is like a traumatic past for her. He's an actor and very good at it.
"Maybe not directly but do you remember when there was an incident where she was thrown out because you went ballistic due to jealousy?"
"Objection your honor! Atty. Manoban was just making an assumption here. There's no supporting evidence." Minho called Lisa out.
"Overruled, however Atty. Manoban, ask directly." The judge commented. Minho was disappointed. And waiting until Lisa makes a mistake so he can turn the table.
"Tsk, tsk." Lisa was annoyed at Minho and she couldn't hide it anymore. Glad the judge let her be. "Anyway, exhibit 46 the next page here shows the uncut version of your exchanged conversation."
"Sooyoungah, forgive me. I didn't mean to hurt you. He was getting on my nerves. You should not talk to a guy like him."
"Leave me alone! Mingyu needs 1 to 2 weeks to recuperate. You're a monster. And I almost broke my back as well."
"Let's meet and talk. Please I am begging I will never hurt you."
"Get lost. I was already hurt. If it weren't for the ongoing drama I would really sue you!"
"I just love you! Can't you see I was jealous? You don't want to date me but you are flirting with him. Oh, please have some standards. I didn't know you would be a bitch and choose such a man like Mingyu?"
"You're crazy. He's better than you in anything. The only difference here is that he does not belong to a powerful family. Don't ever touch him. I am telling you the guy has nothing to do with me. He's just a friend but you drag him into this. Just get lost!"
