Chapter 25

LISA

Someone opened the door which made me fully alerted. An unknown man brought food for me. "You have to eat. I will show you around later. I just have to make Ten eat." Usually, it was an older man I called Han. It made me wonder if he and Ten are close to calling my cousin by his name.

"What do you mean you have to make him eat? Is my cousin okay? I want to see him. I can help." I insisted.  There's no way of knowing it but to see him in the flesh. We could only talk without even seeing each other. The old man couldn't bring out both of us because he's afraid we would tag against him and escape."Also, where's Ahjussi?"

"Ah, Mr. Han, he's out to run some errands." He opened my cell. "I don't know if you ever notice but your cousin has not been eating for days. I told my boss to inform your grandfather. However, he just said there's nothing to bother. This is not new to them. Ten always tend to deceive them to escape. I told them it is very concerning already and he must be taken to the hospital but they refused my request." He seemed young or maybe just older than me. "They are actually getting annoyed by me and told me I am too soft to handle such a job." He shook his head.

I felt that this man has a genuine concern for my cousin. I wonder how long he has been working for our family. "What's your name, Mister?"

"My name is One. I shouldn't be talking to you, Ms. Manoban. It was their order. But I will let you accompany me to Ten's cell. You have to convince him to eat. He's getting skinnier day by day."

He let me finish my meal first. It didn't take long for me to finish because hell, I was really starving. The food was great too. I had no issues at all. Ever since I came here they are really providing good food. I just wonder why Pops is so hard on him.

"Don't be too formal with me. You can call me Lisa. I am not your boss here. I am just a mere prisoner." He was surprised to hear that from me and then just nodded.

When One brought me to my cousin and had the lights on, I almost dropped to my knees upon seeing the state of Ten. That was not how my wonderful cousin looked before. I didn't have the slightest idea that despite his cheerful voice whenever we were talking that there was a great change in his physical look. He's indeed skinny and he had bags under his eyes. He looked so frail for his age.

"Ten it's me."

"Lis, of course, I know it's you." He was glued to his bed. "My dazzling cousin who could make both men and women turn their heads and do stupid things to get your attention." He was forcing his smile and acting like he was fine. "Come closer, Lis." He gestured for me to sit on his bed. "Thank you, One. I couldn't thank you enough for all the help." He was all emotional. It made me happy that my cousin at least found a new friend. It must be very depressing to stay in an unknown place for several years.

"No problem, just please help yourselves. These cells are not meant to imprison you for a lifetime. I told you already. They are just waiting for you to say the word and they will release you." One reminded us. I knew he was just trying to help us to get out of this shitty place.

"I appreciate your concern, One. But my cousin isn't someone who can take back his words. He made a promise to his lover. Of course, he would never break that." I felt the need to defend my poor cousin's decision to stay here. He was left without a choice. He had to do it for Yuta. I ended up in this place too because of my stubbornness. For once I decided to fight for my love. I took the risk but look what I've got myself into. My stupid ass should have thought about something like this could happen. I hope Joohyun would understand why I need not mention her name. It is not that I am denying our relationship or anything. But because I have to protect her by all means. I will not forgive myself if Pops figured I am dating my best friend and dragging her along in this mess.
