Third Person's POV
"Aren't they back yet?" Mr. Bae asked. "We should ask for the rangers' help." He was contemplating for several hours already but he thought the lovers were just spending quality time together which was stopping him from taking any action yet.
"Why are they taking so long?" Mrs. Bae asked. "Did any of them respond to your messages?"
"No, mom." Yeri couldn't count how many times she did try to dial either her unnie or Seulgi's number.
Lisa really dozed off, and when she checked her phone there was still no message from Irene. She looked for a torch, a rope, a Swiss knife, and other items she might need later. When she came out of the tent she searched around for Yeri. At the time she was out from the tent Mr. Bae went to get some help. Yeri and Mrs. Bae were nearby the campfires. "Any news?" She squatted next to Yeri.
"They are both unreachable, Lis. I am afraid they could be in the part of the woods that barely gets a reception."
"Where's your Dad?"
"He went to ask for help."
"I'll go and look for them. Can I have these nuts and crackers?"
"Huh? No way. You have to stay here. My dad and the rangers are on their way. We have to let them do the searching, Lisa." Yeri objected.
"That's why I asked for these." Lisa showed the peanuts and crackers.
"And what about those? Are you going to binge eat while looking for them?" Yeri didn't understand why would Lisa need those.
"Nuh, I will be back. I am good at navigation, Yeri. I'll be able to get back as I drop these on the ground. I just couldn't wait here and do nothing. Joohyun must be scared out there."
"Lisa, you sure you know what you're doing?" Mrs. Bae asked. "Joohyun wouldn't be scared. She's not alone and her dad is on his way with some help."
"I got this Auntie, let uncle follow my tracks."
Lisa jogged through the woods. She kept dropping the crackers and nuts so she could turn back to the right path. Her eyes were focused searching for any signs that someone passes the same trail. She was being careful. She knew there could be wild animals in the woods. She got goosebumps when she heard the owl. "Gee's why I suddenly felt scared? I was full of determination to look for them. There's no turning back, I must find them as soon as possible. It's not safe to be in the woods alone but I am more concerned that Irene is getting scared somewhere out here. If it's not for the moon then everything here is pitched dark."
Meanwhile, out somewhere, Irene was starting to feel cold. She was rubbing her arms to get a temporary warmth. Seulgi noticed it and though she knew Irene would decline her offer she still removed her jacket and tossed it in Irene's direction.
"I'm fine. Please take it back." Irene didn't like that Seulgi has to offer her jacket. She was alienated by that feeling that she used to like to borrow Seulgi's clothes so she won't miss her that much while she was in Canada.
"Go on, warm yourself up. Our rescue should arrive sooner."
"Seulgi, I mean it. I am fine." Irene rolled her eyes. Of course, she didn't like the idea of using Seulgi's jacket knowing they were over. And it would be awkward. Maybe if it happened months ago she would be so excited to wear it and smell Seulgi's scent.
"There's a lot of mosquitos here and it's freezing cold. Use it for your own good, Irene." Seulgi said in a dead-serious tone. She hated that Irene was being difficult to deal with.
"But what about you?"
"This is nothing compared to Canada. I am really cool without it, Irene. Don't be stubborn. Please wear it."
