Chapter 49

After 3 years. Recent time.

Lisa did not show up at Somi and Yeri's private wedding. The newly wedded couple was expecting that she would show up knowing how close she was with them. They guessed that Lisa did not see their important event as an exception to go back to South Korea. They completely understood what drove her to stay away from everyone. And they couldn't blame her or Irene. Things just happened for a reason and that's how life is.

Irene was actually hoping it would be her chance to talk to her. To pick wherever they left of or just have a fresh start. She had so many things she wished she has told Lisa instead of pushing her away. The mistakes they made can never be undone and the only way they could be together back is when they accept each other's flaws and move forward.

3 years have passed and no one really knows where Lisa went and being the head of the family means she always has the final say. She set everything perfectly in the firm and their other businesses to ensure there won't be any problem even though she won't be around for too long. She appointed eligible family members to run the business. It was also the reason everyone kept their mouths shut. They can never argue to the head of their family. And respected her decision to go off the grid. She had been true to her promise to never show up again in front of Irene. She understood the assignment that Irene would never heal on her own if she kept showing up. She didn't want Irene to get hurt anymore because of her. She chose the hardest decision and decided to be selfless and prioritized what is best for Irene.

Irene couldn't work effectively ever since the truth was revealed to her. Her colleagues asked her to reconsider her decision of permanently leaving the job she loves so much. She needed time to reflect and also time to search for Lisa. And being connected to the firm would be a hindrance for her to do whatever she needs. She wanted to focus first with her personal matter. And if ever Lisa comes back she would be willing to drop everything and go with her. She did ask for Jeongyeon's help. She has been staying in the Bahamas looking for Lisa. And Lisa's friend was very supportive but they couldn't find her anywhere. Irene thought Lisa would be there and visit all the places they went together. For 3 years she never stop looking for Lisa. She was determined to look for the love that she lost because of her stubbornness. She was close to believe that the latter was probably on the moon because she never left any trace.

It was a busy day for everyone but for Irene it's another awful day without any news about Lisa. And out of the blue she got an email notification from Apple. She checked what it was. She realized it could be Lisa trying to access her phone since she was the one who set her apple id. She did locate and found out the phone was located in Paris.

"She's in Paris! I must book a ticket to Paris." She browsed the ticketing website to ensure she will have the next flight in Paris. She just packed the essentials. She couldn't wait to see Lisa. The 9.5 hrs flight from Nasau to Paris would be just nothing to her. She called her family to inform that she would fly the earliest flight to Paris. Yeri was concerned since her sister hasn't come back home ever since she started looking for Lisa.

"Unnie what if she's not there?" Yeri asked.

"But what if she's there and I missed this chance because of hesitation?" Irene was doing a face time with Yeri while still checking if she was able to pack all her essentials. "Did Somi find anything?"

"It's negative. Even my wife lost her hope finding her. She did ask every family member but they don't know anything. Even Lisa's parents move in abroad because they were heartbroken when Lisa decided to be off the grid and have someone else run their family's business."

"This is all my fault, Yeri."

"It's not Unnie. Lisa is now as free as a bird. She does not need to fear about her grandpa. She's the Manoban head now and can do whatever she wants. The Manoban family is aware of what happened back there in Thailand. I can't imagine Lisa's struggles dealing with her cousin's passing then her grandfather." Yeri explained. She and her wife did everything they could to help find Lisa too but it seemed the latter really did ensure she can't be found.
