BANG!
Wyatt jolted awake at what sounded like a gunshot. She squinted in the dark, shifting uncomfortably on the floor.
BANG!
"Who the fuck is out shooting this early?" she muttered groggily.
Of course, Wyatt had no real clue what time it was with the door closed. After the fight with her dad and the stroll on the beach last night, she'd stumbled home and passed out in the closet – just in case.
With a groan, Wyatt sat up, reaching for the doorknob. The light from her window blinded her once the door was open, and she groaned again.
No less than thirty minutes later, Wyatt had showered and changed into an orange bikini, a pair of sunflower print black jean shorts, and – for once – a plain grey tank top.
Pulling on some yellow converses, Wyatt stepped outside. Her father was long gone. Probably stumbled over to JJ's house to get high with his best friend, Luke.
The gunshots still sounded, echoing in every direction, though they sounded much closer than Wyatt originally thought.
She frowned, stepping into her "backyard" and looking across to the other mobile homes.
Of course it was JJ.
Wyatt sighed, warily crossing over to her best friend's backyard to see him, gun in hand and headphones on, shooting a helpless teddy bear.
She shouted his name. "JJ!"
He didn't respond, but she wasn't about to get any closer while he was firing.
"JJ!" she tried again, this time louder.
The boy paused, looking around until he found Wyatt standing about ten feet away, hands on her hips and looking as grumpy as she usually did in the morning.
JJ smiled, pulling off his headphones to greet her. "Hey, Super Why."
"What are you doing?" she inquired, less than impressed.
"Practicing," he shrugged simply.
Wyatt frowned. There were about twenty questions running through her mind. 'Are you an idiot?' 'You know we got that from a crime scene, right?' 'Are you actively trying to get yourself arrested?'
