Wyatt ran to Sarah as John B started beating the shit out of her father.
"Are you okay? Breathe, breathe," she coaxed the girl, who was coughing raggedly. "Sarah, are you okay?"
Sarah slowly nodded, and Wyatt grabbed her hand to lead her down to the main deck of the ship. They did leave John B behind, yes, but he was a big boy who was taking a lot of anger out on someone who caused him, his friends, and his girlfriend and lot of problems.
"Wait, we can't leave him," Sarah rasped, trying to pull Wyatt back the way they came.
"He'll be fine. He's right behind us," Wyatt responded, still tugging her on. They were of pretty equal strength, which meant they were both digging their heals into the metal of the ship, each pulling different directions and getting nowhere.
That is until a familiar voice called Sarah's name from behind them.
"Sarah, Wyatt!" It was John B.
He caught up to them quickly and Wyatt let the other girl go, smiling as she watched the lovebirds embrace each other after being apart for so long.
"What happened with Ward?" Wyatt asked.
John B gave her, and then Sarah, a somber look. "He won't be following us anymore."
Wyatt immediately eyed Sarah's face to gauge her reaction. She didn't give anything away.
"Come on. Lifeboat's this way," he told them, leading Sarah by the hand to the edge of the ship.
Wyatt followed, and the three of them jumped into the water. Wyatt was closer, and both of her hands were free, so she reached the lifeboat first, pulling herself in before helping her friends on as well.
Wyatt steered the lifeboat towards where she saw Pope and Cleo jump into the water, then John B and Sarah pulled both of them in.
"Where's Jay and Kie?" John B asked while Sarah and Cleo hugged, beaming over how much they missed each other.
"I thought they were with you," Pope frowned.
"Oh, my God. We have to find them," Wyatt worried.
"Last time I saw 'em was on the other side of the ship!" Cleo mentioned helpfully.
Wyatt steered the lifeboat once more around the ship until they spotted Kie and JJ. Except JJ didn't look conscious.
She felt her heart drop to her stomach and her breathing pick up as she raced towards the last two pogues still in the water.
"John B! Help!" she heard Kie yell, and she wished the boat would go faster.
Upon spotting them, everyone began shouting JJ's name, John B and Pope leaning over to pull him into the lifeboat while Sarah and Cleo did the same with Kie.
