Wyatt dreaded going back to school from the moment her head hit the pillow the night before the first day.
She forgot to set an alarm so it was Kie shoving her off her bed that woke her up in the morning.
"Ugh," Wyatt groaned, propping herself up on her elbows while Kie rummaged through her closet. "What the fuck, Kie?"
"I called you like six times, then honked a bunch when I got here," the girl responded, tossing various items of clothing onto the still grounded Wyatt. "Only reason I stopped is because your neighbor threatened me with a baseball bat."
"Who, Gerry? Yeah, he's an angry old bastard."
"Just hurry up and get dressed. You have five minutes, breakfast is in the car," she left the room before popping her head back in. "Do not make me come back in here."
"Yeah, yeah," Wyatt yawned, so tempted to fall back asleep. Instead, she jerked herself awake, knowing what Kie was like on school mornings.
She threw on what the girl had picked out for her, green and black plaid jeans, a black AC/DC t-shirt, and black combat Docs (they were a Christmas gift from Kie). Punk rock day, it seemed.
After brushing her teeth and spraying on some deodorant, Wyatt grabbed her purple book bag and rushed out of the house.
"Finally," Kie muttered, reaching around her seat to hand Wyatt a McDonald's bag.
"Ooh," she exclaimed excitedly, pulling out a sausage, egg, and cheese mcmuffin. "You know me so well."
"Save the other two for the boys," Kie responded. "Where's JJ?"
"I'm here," a groggy voice sounded just on the outside of Kie's van.
JJ opened the door and practically fell into the van, Wyatt shutting it behind him. She tossed him a mcmuffin, which bounced off his half-asleep face and landed in his lap.
His eyes widened significantly at the smell as Kie started to drive.
"Did you get coffee, by any chance?" Wyatt asked.
Kie grabbed something from the passenger seat and handed it back to the girl. A mocha frappe. Wyatt could've cried at the sight.
"Thank you best friend."
"Yeah, yeah, shut up and eat."
After picking up Pope, the drive to school only took about ten minutes. JJ, who had brought a flask, took a swig as the quad stepped out of the car once Kie parked.
"Hey, chill out," Kie told the boy.
"If I black out, just don't remind me," was JJ's response.
Wyatt rolled her eyes, suddenly very aware of the stares on her back and the whispers being passed about the group.
