The nights changed, times changed, people changed, relations changed, circumstances changed.

Everything was fresh, not the fresh from scratch type fresh but fresh as in the rewritten or overwritten kind of fresh.

Somewhere in California, she had rebuilt her world after everything dear to her had been snatched away by a blind beast.

Four years had taken enough from her but in the same time she learnt a lot of new lessons. Call it the theory of Survival of the fittest.

She stood in the kitchen, her hair tied up into a messy bun. A dull pink shorts paired with an off white crop top, somewhere amidst the past and present one constant thing visible was her kamarbandh, her figure defined. She had her nails neatly trimmed... hands covered with wheat dough.

A slight smile over her face and slim signs of aging. Even the slight wrinkles on her face defined her features even more, she held a certain grace with her...She wasn't a young girl anymore, She was a lady.

RRIINNGG!

An abrupt music played in the background, diverting her attention. As she peeped into her phone, the name displayed...❤️YASH❤️

Immediately a smile formed over her face. Irrespective of her messy look, she picked up the call.

"Good morning love!" Came a voice from the other side of the phone.

She chuckled at his cheesy response.

"Good morning Darling!" She responded with a chirp.

"How's my love doing today?"

"Great!"

They both burst out laughing at the conversation.

"What's the schedule for today?"

"Well! I have a lot of meetings lined up. The last project showed some progress...need to get some work done today." She informed.

"Swara?" He paused..."You're Ok right?"

Swara stopped while chopping vegetables. "Y-yeah!" she smiled.

"Sw--Bye Bye! I need to go!" He immediately cut the call...leaving Swara to herself.

Am I ok?; She wondered, unsure of her answer.

"Swara? Swara?" She heard a faint voice calling her out every time. With a lot of effort she forced her eyes open to see Avyaan, carrying her in his arms.

Kajal running behind her, they both seemed frightened. Swara could feel an aching pain in her belly...She was breathless as if someone managed to disappear the air around her.

"M-My...B-Bab-by!" She managed to say, with a tear drop rolling down the corner of her eye.

"Rishka!!!"

Swara snapped out of her train of thoughts.  Her eyes were moist, as if she relived that day again.

Wiping of the worry from her face "In the kitchen!!!" She yelled.

"Oh My God! Rish! What exactly are you cooking?"

Swara chuckled at her exclaimation.

"Well! Someone here loves Dal Makhani! So I was just cooking that for lunch!" She explained with a smile.

"I want to taste!!!!"

"Sure!" Swara dipped a spoon into the vessel and made her taste the Dal!
